Overall, the camper worked out okay. Joe was a very nice and punctual guy. He did deliver and set up which we loved. He was very open to the times for pick up and drop off. The nightly price was very affordable. However, there were a couple things that caused me to not give the camper a 5 star.1. This is our 2nd time renting and the 1st time was in a camper that was less than 2 years old, so I may be biased. Upon Joes arrival, he began setting up, the minute he opened up the camper, a horrible odor came out. It was so bad that I couldn’t even go into the camper to look at it. My husband opened up all the windows and we gave it a several hours to air out. I mentioned the smell to Joe and said his wife left an onion in the trash can and it sat for 2 days. There was no way the smell was an onion. We did seem to finally pinpoint the odor to the large indoor rug that he was using as an outdoor rug. The rug needs to go to the trash. It’s stained up and smells terrible. We spent the entire weekend with every window open because the odor had stuck to everything.2. The other issue with the camper also happened as Joe was setting up....the fuse blew shortly after turning the a/c on. Since it was in the high 80s, a/c was a must....or we would have just stayed in a tent. This happened several times throughout our rental.3. The sheets on the bottom bunk of the bed were dirty. When I took them off to put sheets I brought with us, we were able to see how stained up the mattress was.4. We used the bathroom only a hand full of times because the floor of the bathroom was extremely soft and we were afraid it would break through.5. The outdoor awning is nice except that it is filthy and has mold spores all over it. It definitely needs a good cleaning.6. The security deposit: The security deposit request for the camper, in its current condition, seems insanely too high. Furthermore, when Joe picked up the camper, he informed my husband that he was renting it out again the next day. Knowing that, I asked him to please release the security deposit as I did not want to get stuck with any damages that someone else may cause. He said that he couldn’t release it, but we caused no damage and it would be released by outdoorsy in 7 days.
$500 was taken the day prior to our reservation and I am still waiting on it to be placed back into my account. The camper was returned 8 days ago. I spoke to outdoorsy yesterday and asked why it was taking so long, as this did not happen with our first rental (we got our deposit back 2 days later), and they told me that the owner can release early if he wants.Long story short...the price is nice and Joe seems like a very nice and accommodating man. However, we would probably not rent this camper again.
