We arrived to pick up the RV at the time we had agreed on. Shane was out of town and his employees were getting everything ready. We were told one of the employees was just putting gas in the RV and would be back shortly. 10 minutes later, he came back with an RV that was 10 years older than the one in this ad. We found out that the 2016 Thor RV in this ad was not ready and we would have to wait an additional 45 minutes for it to be cleaned, filled up with water, and gassed up. We agreed to take the older RV if they gave us a discount. During the walkthrough of the old RV, Shane's employee did not know how to operate everything so he had to get someone else to help. The second guy that came knew everything about the RV but he started listing off things that don't work on this older RV. Some of the lights were broken and we still agreed that it would be fine because we wanted to get on the road since we had our family waiting for us. Then toward the end of the tour, they remembered that the water heater was broken on this old RV... At this point, we had no choice but to agree to wait for the 2016 Thor to be prepared for us to take. Keep in mind, this is after we had been going through a tour of the old RV for 15 or so minutes. At first, it took 5 minutes for them to even find the keys to the 2016 Thor. Once we unlocked it, we noticed it had less than 1/2 tank of gas and was not cleaned. At this point we wanted to just take our losses and get on with our trip since we were holding the rest of our family back. We still had to wait for it to be filled up with water and had to get a walkthrough of it. They mentioned they would still give us a discount for our troubles, which made things seem a little better. When we were ready to leave, I asked the employees about the discount and they said I'd have to reach out to Shane about it. This was frustrating because Shane wasn't there in the first place and so he wasn't present for the experience that we had. We ended up leaving 1 hour and 30 minutes later than we had agreed on.During the trip, the RV performed great and we had a great time. Once we got back, I got in touch with Shane and he was very defensive about how clean his RV was (since this is his personal RV). He also mentioned that this wasn't as big of a hassle as we had made it to be, which is funny considering the fact that he wasn't there. After all was said and done he promised us a measly discount of 10% which I did not think was fair given our experience. When I checked my account a few days later, he had only given us $25 back which is actually only a 6% discount.I don't know about you, but when I'm paying hundreds of hard earned dollars for something, I expect it to be a pleasant experience and to not get my time wasted. I would not recommend renting an RV from Shane. You would be better off looking anywhere else. My father in law also rented an RV from someone else for this trip and had an amazing experience.
