Meet your host, Sidney

Member since 2020

Hi there! We are Maxx and Sidney. We converted this little tiny home on wheels and have been traveling throughout the united states with our rescue pup, Bruno. We work in the wine industry and the van was our solution to having seasonal job opportunities in various locations. In between work we love to take long road trips just about anywhere. Most of our destinations are places where we can hike and rock climb or enjoy tasting some wine.

Class BRental #153104

Our van was converted with the intention of keeping us comfortable as we chased seasonal vineyard work on throughout the states. We have since purchased a vineyard in SW Michigan and are farming full time, so we want to offer you the unique opportunity to explore the states in our home on wheels.

I had the greatest weekend with The Vine Van! Sidney and Maxx were wonderful hosts, equipping me with all of the information I could need and having excellent communication for any questions. This was my first time renting a camper van and I was a little nervous about how it would be to operate the vehicle, but they made everything super simple to understand and took the time to walk me though all of the features before my trip so that I would be comfortable with how everything worked. You can tell that they take a lot of care in their van - it was immaculate and it sounds like they also service it frequently - which gave me a lot of comfort taking the van on a long road trip, especially as a first-timer. I went from Chicago to Traverse City and back over Memorial Day Weekend and had all of the beauty, quiet, and adventure I was hoping for. I will 100% look to rent The Vine Van on future trips! Thanks, Sidney and Maxx!

Amazing van. At 6'1", I could stand in the back no problem and the comfortable bed was definitely big enough for me me, my wife and two dogs. The van had all of the amenities we could need, and between the fridge, stove and camp fires we were able to eat and drink well. Lots of hidden storage for hiking/camping gear, food and drink.
The decor turned heads from the minute we picked it up.

Honestly where do I even begin. I have too many AMAZING things to say about this van, as well as Sidney and Maxx. Let's start with the van: the interior has absolutely everything you need for a seamless trip. Towels, kitchen items, a fan, and lots of storage. The bed itself was SO comfortable, and everything inside the van was handy, clean and had so many amazing personal touches. One thing I will note is that changing the Berkley water filter, as well as sink water is a heavy job, so make sure you are with someone strong! It's not so bad, just something to note. The car drove beautifully and Sidney and Maxx walk you through everything before handing the keys over. If at any point we had questions about the van, they were there too answer us immediately. Overall we felt safe, free, and creatively awake our entire trip. I cannot recommend this van or experience enough!!

I don’t think it’s possible to give our trip with the Vine Van a higher rating. TBH, we had not camped before and were a little nervous about not having a bathroom but as long as you camp in areas with access to facilities, you’ll be fine! The Vine Van was absolutely perfect for our socially distanced vacation. Everything about it was fabulous down to the comfy Casper mattress and fully stocked kitchen. We had so much fun that we booked our next trip with the van while still on our first trip! Sidney and Maxx are awesome and have done an incredible job making sure you have everything you need and are also super available if you have any questions along your journey. So thankful for the memories and can’t wait to make more on our next trip!

My girlfriend and I rented Sidney’s van for a 10 day tour through a number of national parks out west. It was the perfect setup to get around and enjoy the outdoors. It has everything you need to travel comfortably off the grid and the personal touches make it feel homey :)

Have a question?Get answers directly from the owner

Q.Is your van dog friendly?
A.
Heck yeah! Our van was built with our own dog in mind and so it is very dog friendly to any well behaved dog. There is a space underneath the full sized bed that can accommodate an xl dog bed (unless you'd rather them sleep in bed with you). There is also a bench up front so that your dog can sit right next to you up front as you hit the road.

Q.Why is your security deposit so high?
A.
Our van was subject to damage during its first year being rented. As a result we had to raise our security deposit to more accurately reflect the average cost of repair, which has been between $1500-2000 in most cases. Our security deposit is set at this rate to ensure that we can address any damage without moving into legal litigation. This is unfortunately non-negotable. However, it is fully refundable if you return the van with no damage, so if you are careful it should not be a problem!

Q.Do you require previous experience driving a van?
A.
Not necessarily, but previous experience driving a van/RV is preferred as it can be intimidating driving such a large vehicle for the first time and that makes our van more susceptible to damage. Each driver is required to go on a test drive with us prior to departure in which we will asses your comfort level navigating the van. We reserve the right to cancel any trip after a test drive if we do not feel comfortable moving forward. Your trip will be refunded according to Outdoorsy's policies.
