The park is named in honor of the soldiers who fought for their country back in 1946, just after the Second World War. There is lots to do when visiting this privately managed state park, like visiting the on-site resort, hiking, or going swimming, fishing, or boating in Lake Blackshear. Visitors can also play a round of golf or disc golf, go hunting, or hit the archery range instead.Little Ocmulgee State Park is found to the east of the Twin Oaks RV Park Campground, with a golf course and a lodge. The park also has nature trails, a rustic campground, a pro shop, rental cottages, a restaurant, and an outdoor theater.F. D. Roosevelt State Park is one of the state’s most interesting sites due to its historical context and its beautiful springs. The late President Franklin Delano Roosevelt spent summers at this lovely nature park, hence the park’s name. The park is known for its healing hot springs.Just outside of Macon to the north, you can see the closest thing Georgia has to a full-fledged national park. Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park is an enchanting place full of natural beauty and jaw-dropping historic sites. Lots of mound structures left behind by prehistoric tribes can be found in the park, with evidence of continued habitation dating back 17,000 years. Breathtaking mounds, ancient temples, and other mesmerizing remnants of a long-lost civilization can also be uncovered when you rent an RV near Twin Oaks RV Park Campground and head into Macon.

City Sightseeing

Since it is located in a rural setting, Twin Oaks RV Park Campground isn't surrounded by attractions aside from the splendor of the great outdoors. The Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park is a great place to start, with a fantastic gift shop and a museum displaying the countless items and artifacts found in dig sites in its mounds.The Hargray Capitol Theatre and the Grand Opera House are two venues that feature an array of live performances to enjoy. The Grand Opera House is a dazzling palace of the arts, with ornate features and an old-timey feel. The refurbished Hargray Capitol Theatre and the Grand Opera House are home to theatrical productions, operas, comedians, film screenings, and musical concerts.The Tubman Museum is a history lover’s dream, with a wealth of information concerning the legendary Harriet Tubman. The museum offers tours, showcasing objects from the African American hero’s life, along with pianos and instruments from Georgia music legends like Little Richard and Otis Redding.
