The Great Outdoors

Hop into your rental RV and head to Lake Murphysboro State Park where you can find even more gorgeous trees, flowers, and bodies of water to enjoy. If you were out of luck at Pyramid Campground, then you can try again for some largemouth bass, bluegill, sunfish, and crappie, and if you’re not really an angler, just relax in the fishing pier instead. You can also hike, of course, and wonder at the animals and birds who live in the area, but make sure not to hit one when you’re having fun at the archery range. If one of the reasons for you to rent an RV in Perry County was to get some amazing, panoramic views, then you need to head to Garden of the Gods Recreation Area right away. Even though you can see for miles and miles, it’s not actually that hard to get to the viewpoint, so you’ll have no excuses not to take some of the best photos you’ve ever taken. You can also hike on other trails through the trees and vegetation, and it’s the perfect place for a picnic and some scenic driving. You haven’t seen all the fantastic scenery yet, not until you’ve paid a visit to the Middle Mississippi River National Wildlife Refuge. As the name suggests, this is a goldmine for anyone who wants to get a taste of the Illinois wildlife - especially the birds. Spot the characteristic red-headed woodpecker, try to time your visit with the bald eagles, and look for the golden flashes of the prothonotary warbler. Do not forget your camera, whatever you do.

Exploring the Area

If you rent an RV near Pyramid Campground and like gatherings and events, then this is your lucky trip because the whole year is packed with amazing fun and exciting things to do. Start with Pinckneyville, where the annual Demolition Derby is a great event, as is Perry County Fair and Collectors Caravan. If you want some culture, Hearts for the Arts gives you both works from local artists as well as a sidewalk competition, and the Farmers’ Market occurs all through the summer.Next, it’s time to see what Du Quoin has to offer in terms of events. DuQuoin State Fairgrounds is the epicenter for big happenings - and no wonder with that race track and those grandstands. Here you can attend Campers Conventions and concerts, rodeos, and horse shows, as well as fireworks displays and flea markets. If that’s not fast enough for you, there’s always the Water Ski Championships and Hovercraft Water Racing to look forward to.With all the beautiful scenery, outdoor adventure, and fun city attractions, there’s no way that your next RV vacation won’t be taking place in Perry County, Illinois. Questions about RVs?

Q.

What type of RV should I choose?

A.

Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.

You’ll also want to consider amenities. For example, if you’re planning to cook on the road, you’ll want a kitchenette. If your campground doesn’t have public restrooms, you’ll want to search RVs with bathrooms. Check out full descriptions of our models to help you decide here.

Q.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

A.

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

Q.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
