The Great Outdoors

RV camping at Ekstrom's Stage Station Campground will make it easy for you to enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities. The trail systems found nearby are numerous and vary in length and difficulty level. They traverse both the forestland and prairie ecosystems that make up the local region. These can be used for hiking, biking, and horseback riding during the warm months, as well as cross-country skiing and snowshoeing when the weather turns cold. The Nex Perce-Clearwater National Forest is located nearby. This area provides for activities that can be enjoyed all through the year. Camping, hiking, and scenic drives are available during the summer months, while winter sports reign supreme during the long, snowy months that are common in this part of the country. Due to the extreme and lengthy winter weather that occurs near here, some parts of the forest may not always be accessible by normal highway vehicles. Winter weather can be present well into May. Local ranger stations will have information on current road conditions. The Blue Mountain National Recreation Area is also found close by. Similar to the national forest, opportunities to enjoy outdoor activities abound here, year-round. Mountain biking, fishing, and winter sports, such as snowmobiling, are all enjoyed here. This is also a prime place to view wildlife that is native to the local region. Be aware, any services available will likely be rustic. This is also a grizzly bear country, so it is best to never venture out alone, to make a lot of noise, and to not hike off-trail.

Exploring the Area

When you book an RV in Missoula County, you will find yourself surrounded by activities everyone will find interesting. Highway 12 is a scenic drive that travels over 100 miles through the nearby countryside. It passes through both grassland and national forest areas, offering scenic views of each. There are turnoffs and picnic spots found along the way, as well. Motorists should be watchful for the motorcycles that frequent this curvy route. Camping with an RV at this campground will put you within easy reach of all sorts of unique destinations.Garnet Ghost Town State Park is located in Drummond, MT, about 30 miles from the campground. The park contains many buildings that were original to the town that have been preserved. This allows visitors to actually walk the original streets of the community, and experience what life would have been like for the residents who originally lived there. There are several different museums found in Missoula. The Aerial Fire Depot and Smokejumper Center highlight the stories of the people who help protect the local forestland from wildfires. The Fort Missoula Museum is an old military fort that can be toured, and it was once the home of an infantry bicycle corps! The Montana Natural History Center showcases the wildlife and natural ecosystems that are found in this state. There is also a children's and art museum found locally. If you've been looking for a quiet place to relax, where scenic views are available in abundance, consider a campsite at Ekstrom's Stage Station Campground. Questions about RVs?

What type of RV should I choose?

Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.

You’ll also want to consider amenities. For example, if you’re planning to cook on the road, you’ll want a kitchenette. If your campground doesn’t have public restrooms, you’ll want to search RVs with bathrooms. Check out full descriptions of our models to help you decide here.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

How does check-in work?

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
