The Great Outdoors

The town of Kearney is a perfect example of how beautiful the American Great Plains region can be, with gently rolling plains, rivers, and lakes. One of the most popular outdoor attractions in the area is Yanney Park. This park is located just outside the center of town and has plenty to do. There is a lake in the center of the park, and boat rentals are available. There are also nature trails that are ideal for a gentle walk. If you are camping in an RV with kids, there are play areas here that will keep them entertained.Although Nebraska is technically landlocked, there are still plenty of fishing spots you can check out when you book an RV in Buffalo County. There is a place to fish within the Kearney RV Park and Campground, and you can also go fishing in Yanney Park's lake. Another great place to fish in town is Cottonmill Park. This park offers excellent largemouth bass fishing, and you can also rent a kayak or canoe there. These fishing areas are surrounded by beautiful greenery and make for a very pleasant place to spend time. While Kearney is not particularly hilly, there are still plenty of nature trails in the area that are excellent for hiking and for biking. One of the longest trails connects Cottonmill Park with Fort Kearney State Recreation Area, which is a reconstructed fort from the 19th century. The fort was initially built as an outpost along the Oregon Trail, but now there is a large recreation area there located along the Platte River.

Questions about RVs?

Q.

What type of RV should I choose?

A.

Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.

You’ll also want to consider amenities. For example, if you’re planning to cook on the road, you’ll want a kitchenette. If your campground doesn’t have public restrooms, you’ll want to search RVs with bathrooms. Check out full descriptions of our models to help you decide here.

Q.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

A.

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

Q.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
