A lovely strip of beach is the perfect place to read a book, walk at sunset or sunrise, and splash around in the refreshing lake water. Additionally, there are paths to hike and bike, playgrounds, ice skating and cross-country skiing in the winter, and a campground where you can spend a night or two when you rent an RV near Cooperstown KOA.Selkirk Shores State Park is farther than the others, over by the town of Pulaski, but once you take the time to view its heavenly shores, you won’t want to leave. The park has an amazing bird watching area where countless species of migratory birds make temporary homes during their yearly pilgrimage south to escape the cold winter temps. Boat launches enable boat owners and renters to cruise around Lake Ontario and have a dream fishing trip on one of the Great Lakes.

Exploring the City

When you rent a motorhome near Cooperstown KOA, you can branch out a bit to explore the surrounding towns. Between little Cooperstown to the south, and the major city of Syracuse to the west, you’ll have your hands full with a slew of fun attractions to check out. The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown is a significant draw for the region and one of the most beloved places in the country for sports fans. Celebrate the legacies of legendary players, coaches, and teams in these hallowed halls, with statues of each Hall of Fame player and lots of amazing trinkets and memorabilia from their respective careers. The museum does a fantastic job explaining the origins of baseball back during the Civil War, as well as the evolution of the game over the years. Be sure to pick up some great merchandise in the gift shop to support your favorite team.For a different kind of museum, the Fenimore Art Museum is a magical experience. Housed in a Neo-Georgian mansion, this incredible institution boasts an impressive collection of American folk art, historic photographs, and even some artifacts and antiques. There is also a delightful cafe on the shores of Lake Otsego that serves as an ideal place to grab a coffee and take in the view.The Glimmerglass Opera in Cooperstown is a dedicated space for live entertainment and performance art. Broadway-style musicals, old operas, and live theatrical plays can be enjoyed at this phenomenal community theater where a healthy love and appreciation for the arts is carefully cultivated.
