The Great Outdoors

When you pick up an RV rental near Asheville West KOA, you'll be right in the midst of the exceptional parks and forests that engulf the region. Chimney Rock State Park is one of many interesting places you can bring your campervan rental, sharing a name with the epic granite monolith in the center of the park. Guests can climb this amazing geological feature to take in some unbelievable sights from the top. Hiking through the woods can also yield some fantastic scenery, like the Gneiss Caves or the Hickory Nut Falls which cascade nearly 400 feet from top to bottom on the gorgeous cliffs cutting into the mountainside. If you have the time to travel a bit farther from your temporary home while camping at Asheville West KOA, Lake James State Park is one of the best in the state. Interstate 40 connects the park and Asheville, so finding it is a breeze. Once you reach the scenic shores of Lake James, you can do some swimming, fishing, boating, water skiing, canoeing, or kayaking, among other things. The sandy beaches lining the shore are wonderful for sun tanning, lounging, beach combing, and, of course, splashing around in the water during hot days. There are miles of trails winding throughout the park that you can explore by bicycle or on foot, as well as three different campgrounds where you can stay with your Candler travel trailer rental. Trek through the old-growth rainforests dotting the mountainsides, go for a bike ride, hike, rock climb up perilous rock faces, spend time fishing in one of many lakes and streams, and camp out at one of the park's rustic campgrounds. If you hop over the border to the neighboring state of Tennessee, you can visit the most popular national park in the country. Great Smoky Mountains National Park brings in over eleven million visitors each year, more than the Grand Canyon and Yosemite National Parks. The park is home to part of the Appalachian Trail, the world’s first and most legendary long-distance hiking trail, totaling well over 2,000 miles. There are epic viewpoints overlooking stunning mountains blanketed in fiery fall foliage in autumn, perhaps the best time of year to visit this amazing place.

Questions about RVs?

Q.

What type of RV should I choose?

A.

Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.

You’ll also want to consider amenities. For example, if you’re planning to cook on the road, you’ll want a kitchenette. If your campground doesn’t have public restrooms, you’ll want to search RVs with bathrooms. Check out full descriptions of our models to help you decide here.

Q.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

A.

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

Q.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
