The Great Outdoors

A short drive south of the RV campground is Salt Fork State Park near Cambridge. Not only is Salt Fork the largest state park in Ohio, but it is also where some of the first Ohio residents settled. Make your way to the Kennedy Stone House, built in 1837, to get a better understanding of pioneer life at the time. Once you’ve gotten your fill of history, head down to the shores of Salt Fork Lake and rent a boat to explore the park from another vantage point. If you’d rather stay on dry land, there is an extensive network of trails that will guide you through the park. Salt Fork also offers plenty of additional recreation activities, such as miniature golf, golf, a nature center, and even archery. If you’d rather go somewhere a little more remote, Woodbury Wildlife Area in Coshocton is a great option. Once farmland and then a strip mine, this wildlife preserve beautifully showcases the scenic terrain. Wildlife is plentiful at Woodbury; local inhabitants include white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, beavers, raccoons, and more. Visitors are encouraged to fish in the stocked fishing ponds. If you have the necessary Ohio licenses, you can also hunt in the area during appropriate hunting seasons. If you’re looking for a day trip a little farther from your campsite at Atwood Lake Park, Cuyahoga Valley National Park near Akron is the place to go. The Cuyahoga River has kept the surrounding valley healthy for generations. Visitors can explore the expansive network of roughly 125 miles of trails and get a true sense of the wonder of Ohio. Or, if you’re a more experienced canoer or kayaker, you can get your hands on some equipment and make your way to the Cuyahoga River and explore the landscape from the water. If you want to experience something unique, the National Park Service operates a scenic train ride on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad. This nearly three-hour journey leads you past some of the national park’s most stunning features; enjoy it all from the comfort of the train cars.

Questions about RVs?

Q.

What type of RV should I choose?

A.

Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.

You’ll also want to consider amenities. For example, if you’re planning to cook on the road, you’ll want a kitchenette. If your campground doesn’t have public restrooms, you’ll want to search RVs with bathrooms. Check out full descriptions of our models to help you decide here.

Q.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

A.

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

Q.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
