The Great Outdoors

When you camp in northeastern Ohio, the beautiful Lake Erie is directly north, and several wilderness areas can be easily accessed to the south. For some serious outdoor recreation and exploration, plan a visit to Allegheny National Forest. In this massive 500,000-acre forest, you can find lots to do, regardless of the season. Whether it’s skiing, snowmobiling, and ice fishing during the frigid winter months or hiking, biking, and horseback riding in the sunny summertime, you’ll enjoy your visit. Extend your stay and park your Conneaut camper rental at one of the campsites within the forest, and you can spend days traversing the mountains, woodlands, wetlands, and prairie, with rivers and lakes in between.For some more forest fun, head to Cuyahoga Valley National Park, a short drive south of Cleveland. With over 12,000 years of human occupation, there’s lots of history to explore while you hike around the amazing environment. Trade the hiking for a scenic train ride or take a trek down the beautiful Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail. Hike around the wetlands and woodlands of the area, practice your aim at the archery range, or spend some time on the disc golf course. Horseback riding, picnicking, hunting, fishing, and wildlife watching are also popular pastimes here.Another spot to find some tranquility is West Branch State Park, located in Ravenna. Most visitors come for the 2,650-acre lake that offers terrific opportunities for swimming, boating, and fishing. There's room for everyone to play at this family-friendly park, with a playground and a dog park for the pup. You can also hike across 5,000 acres of meadows, woodlands, forests, and bogs. Hunting, picnicking, camping, horseback riding, and biking can also be enjoyed here.

Within a few miles of Evergreen Lake Park Campground, there are a couple of restaurants and a gas station. The city of Conneaut offers a broader variety of eateries, convenience stores, and grocery stores. Get up close to native wildlife at The Perkins Wildlife Center and Woods Garden, where you can walk through a woodland environment housing foxes, eagles, bobcats, river otters, and many other mammals and birds.If you are looking for some family-friendly fun during your motorhome camping trip, you can’t go wrong with a visit to Waldameer Park & Water World in Erie. One of the many theme parks in the region, at Waldameer, you’re just about guaranteed a good time. Roller coasters, water slides, and over 100 other attractions provide entertainment for guests of all ages and stages. Try the winding tracks of Comet, go for a relaxing float along the Endless River, or see if you can handle the gravity-defying Chaos while you're here.

What type of RV should I choose?

Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
