The Great Outdoors

The peninsula creates Presque Isle Bay, which is a popular spot for a variety of watersports thanks to the bay's calm waters. Boating and fishing are both popular here, and anglers can expect to find muskie, perch, bass, and more in the bay. Swimming is also a favorite pastime, and Presque Isle has some of the best freshwater beaches in the country. If you want to explore the extent of the peninsula, there are roughly 11 miles of trails that lead through the area's woodlands.Erie campers may want to visit another nearby lakeside state park during their stay. Geneva State Park is located across the state line in Ohio and features over 600 acres of sandy beaches, marshes, and woodlands along Lake Erie. This park features a marina, making it ideal for boating, and there's a 300-foot swimming beach too. Anglers will love this area, as its one of the best areas to catch walleye in the country. If you'd prefer to explore the park's interior, there are six miles of trails leading through the park's dense trees and freshwater marshes. During the winter, these trails are great for cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. You may want to explore some of the beautiful wilderness away from Lake Erie during your visit with a campervan rental near Erie. Oil Creek State Park is a riverside park with a lot of history, as it was the location of the first commercial oil well. Hikers will enjoy experiencing the park's history, and there are over 50 miles of trails that lead past some of the park's best historical sights. Several streams run through the region, including Oil Creek, and these waterways are excellent for catching brook trout. Other favorite activities include kayaking, and several riverside picnic tables provide ideal settings for a scenic snack.

Questions about RVs?

Q.

What type of RV should I choose?

A.

Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.

You’ll also want to consider amenities. For example, if you’re planning to cook on the road, you’ll want a kitchenette. If your campground doesn’t have public restrooms, you’ll want to search RVs with bathrooms. Check out full descriptions of our models to help you decide here.

Q.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

A.

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

Q.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
