Cook Forest State Park is just a few minutes' drive from the campground. This amazing area consists of 8,500 acres of woodland and over 3,000 acres of wetlands. The Clarion River flows through the park, providing opportunities for kayaking, canoeing, tubing, and fishing. Some of the fish species found here are rainbow trout, smallmouth bass, catfish, walleye, and brown trout. The park is a beautiful place to explore nature, have a picnic, or go camping. Here you can also enjoy hiking, biking, horseback riding, and hunting. Resident creatures include bear, deer, turkey, and squirrel. In the wintertime, Cook Forest State Park is a perfect place for sledding, ice skating, and cross-country skiing.Oil Creek State Park features lovely scenery, waterfalls, forests, and more. About an hour's drive northwest of White's Haven Campground, it is a perfect day trip destination when you're RV camping near Clarington. The park is home to the world’s first oil well, and while you're here, you can see historical sites dating back to the 1800s. There are 52 miles of hiking trails in the park that you can also use for biking and horseback riding. Oil Creek is a great place for scenic kayaking and canoeing too. You can also go fishing and catch species like bass and trout. In the wintertime, this area is terrific for sledding and cross-country skiing. The waterfalls are most beautiful in the spring, but the park is open year-round.State Game Lands Number 283 is one of the closest to the campground. This beautiful natural area is great for hiking, wildlife watching, bird watching, fishing, and hunting. Many animal species are living here, and you can hunt deer, bear, fox, coyote, raccoon, fox, and turkey. There are also several creeks in the park where you can enjoy fishing or relaxing by the water.
