The Great Outdoors

There is so much epic nature to see in the Palmetto State. Myrtle Beach State Park is as good as any, found in the heart of Myrtle Beach just a few minutes’ walk from Ocean Lakes Family Campground. This stellar ocean-park has some of the best beaches in South Carolina, along with a nature center where you can learn about the critters that inhabit the dunes, beaches, and tidal pools of the area. Hike, bike, or ride horses on the small trail system in the park, or get some surfing and swimming at the beach. Picnicking, fishing, and camping are other ways to make the most of your Myrtle Beach camping vacation while visiting Myrtle Beach State Park.Huntington Beach State Park is located south of Ocean Lakes Family Campground, and quite similar to Myrtle Beach State Park in location and in terms of what it offers. Rustic camping on the shores of the Atlantic, tours of the massive Atalaya Castle estate, and magical sunrises are what is in store if you bring your campervan rental to this pristine nature park by the sea. Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge can be found adjacent to the park, featuring a massive array of wildlife including an epic number of migratory bird species. Hunting and fishing are allowed at this nature preserve during certain times of the year.Over by the state capital, Columbia, you can see the lone national park in South Carolina. Congaree National Park is one of the smaller national parks in the country, but don’t let this fool you. An impressive mix of ecosystems like swamp forests, prairie lands, protected wetlands, and more can be seen when you walk the nature trails and beautiful boardwalks carving through the wilderness. Kayaking or canoeing in one of the park’s many waterways is perhaps an even better way to get a feel for the park, as there are more creeks, rivers, and estuaries than walking trails in this slice of paradise.

Exploring the City

There are nearly endless things to do when you rent an RV in Myrtle Beach. This impressive city is a known hotspot for travelers, from its legendary Bike Week to the legions of spring breakers who migrate down each year to escape the cold and take a break from university. Broadway at the Beach is one of the best-known places in town, essentially a massive shopping center, entertainment venue, nightlife district, and dining hub that thousands of people visit each day. There are bars, nightclubs, water features, and more to see when you walk around this massive outdoor facility. The Myrtle Beach Pinball Museum and Wheels of Yesteryear Museum are two other sights worth looking into, especially if you like old arcade machines and classic cars. The Pinball Museum showcases antique pinball machines and arcade games from several decades ago, while the automobile museum contains a large collection of muscle cars, antique roadsters, and other refurbished vehicles from way back in the 20th century.Golf courses, water parks, aquariums, speedways, and amusement parks can be found while you're camping at Ocean Lakes Family Campground, but the Ferris wheel is probably the most iconic feature of the Myrtle Beach shoreline. Take a ride on this epic feature by the beach, and gain some marvelous views of the ocean and the city, especially when the sun is setting or rising. When you book an RV in Horry County, there is a never-ending list of things to occupy your time, so start planning now.

Questions about RVs?

Q.

What type of RV should I choose?

A.

Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.

You’ll also want to consider amenities. For example, if you’re planning to cook on the road, you’ll want a kitchenette. If your campground doesn’t have public restrooms, you’ll want to search RVs with bathrooms. Check out full descriptions of our models to help you decide here.

Q.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

A.

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

Q.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
