This is the perfect camper for people who like actually camping. Or maybe you're just ready to get up off the ground but don't want to feel like you're in your living room. No satellite dishes, air conditioning, or microwaves for you. Just 360 degrees of nature and, maybe, the smell of bacon in the morning on the camp stove. "It's cute, too," as described by a renter.

You'll be right at home with this cute and classic camper beneath the high trees of a state park, the open prairie of southwest Minnesota, or the campground of one of the Midwest's major (or minor) camping events.

All new for 2023! New dense-core foam mattresses!!! Completely renovated with new tent, lighting, stove, interior, and other improvements, the camper is a snap to set up thanks to the colorful step-by-step guide to setting up and taking it down. Even rookies will have no trouble operating it. The guide is sent via email immediately upon booking and a setup/takedown lesson is provided in advance on request so you're not learning at the campground.

Two large bunks provide queen and full-sized accommodations. A "sofa" pulls out for an additional sleeping area and a table conversion with two seats provides yet another.

Pickup times are entirely flexible (I'm retired) and I'll work hard to be sure your experience with the camper is an enjoyable one. Yes, delivery is available and for certain locations in the Twin Cities metro, it and setup are free. Help by text is available constantly during your trip.

If you want to learn more about the camper, please request a copy of the camper guide.

Read more about the camper at its blog. dutchmencamper(dot)blogspot(dot)com/

Big discounts for weekly rentals are available. Take a moment to browse the reviews and then reserve your vacation before someone else does.

I look forward to meeting you.

What's included

Linens for two main bunks provided and must be used even if you have sleeping bags. Bring extra sheets if you intend to use the two optional bunks. Failure to use sheets is a $25 cleaning charge.

Delivery charges are calculated as one way, one trip, calculated from South St. Paul (via Google Maps) and includes delivery, setup, packup, and pickup. Free delivery and setup for many locations in the metro area of MSP (Afton State Park, for example). Ask for more details.

Propane is provided at no charge for rentals through September 1.

Recommendations

In 2022, the camper visited Whitewater State Park multiple times, Kamp Dels on Lake Sakatah, the air show in Oshkosh, the North Shore of Minnesota, Chippewa National Forest and various state parks in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Other things to note

Please be sure your vehicle's tow rating is high enough for approximately 2000 pounds. 2" ball for the hitch required.

Also be sure you have a *working* electrical connection -- 4-way flat connector (Green: Right turn/brake light -Yellow: Left turn/brake light-Brown: Tail/running lights - White: Ground wire) for lights. The unit will not be dispatched if turn signals and brake lights aren't working (You can get a tester at any auto parts store).

Renting a camper had never been easier, he always got back to us in a timely fashion, was very accommodating as to pick up and drop off. Love that he had a binder with all the instructions step by step ( even had pictures). would def rent from him again.

This was my first time using a pop-up trailer and I'm so happy to have rented from Bob. The camper was in excellent condition, perfectly clean and organized. We took him up on his offer to demo set-up and take-down which made things much easier at the campsite. Personally, the extra 30 min probably saved us 3 hours of fiddling around with the camper at the park. The handbook was easy to follow and Bob was quick to respond if we had questions. It ended up raining for part of our trip, but that was no issue with a roof over our heads and plenty of space to play games. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone.

Bob was a great host and the camper was as described and perfectly cozy and functional for our family of 4. We camped at an electric site at Whitewater State Park and took a day trip to tour Mystery Cave. We had a lovely 3 night late summer camping trip and loved the Dutchmen, not sure I can go back to sleeping in a tent now! I would bring a thermarest to put under the matress next time for a little extra cushion, it's not bad by any means but the matress in the pull outs needs to be somewhat thin for it to close up so compactly. Can't think of any other tips, it's set up nicely for your camping needs.

Had a great time camping in Southeast Minnesota with the Dutchman. Bob was an excellent host. The trailer had ample space for our family of 5 and our dog. Thanks Bob!

Q.What flexibility is available for picking up and dropping off the RV?
A.
I'm retired so there is no firm timetable for pickup or drop off. Since I'm also an usher at Target Field, the only factor is if there's a game on a particular day, I have to be at Target Field by 10 am for day games and 4pm for night games, so we may have to adjust pickup/drop off teams (i.e. pick up the night before, or drop off on a Sunday after 6:30 pm etc). It's all very flexible and informal. This isn't U-Haul.

Q.Does the camper have brakes?
A.
It does not, but it shouldn't be a deal breaker. First, the camper is comparatively light. Second, brakes are particularly important on steep grades, few of which we have in Minnesota. The camper tows easily but you do have to remember when approaching a stop sign, for example, that you are towing something back there.

Q.Can one person set up the camper if I'm camping by myself
A.
Yes! I do it all the time. The trick is to follow each step in the Camping Guide completely and in the order given. If you do have a problem, I'm just a text message away.
