The Great Outdoors

Longview campers will have access to several lakes during their stay in East Texas. Caddo Lake State Park contains one of the biggest lakes in the region and has over 26,000 acres of swamps, ponds, and woodlands to explore. Kayaking is a popular pastime here, and visitors will love navigating the bayous and weaving between the swamp's moss-covered cypress trees, with over 50 miles of paddling trails to explore. The park also contains a boat ramp and a fishing pier, and there are roughly 70 species of fish lurking in these waters. If you'd prefer to stay on dry land, several trails are leading by the lake and through the surrounding forests.A more traditional lake can be found just south of Longview at Martin Creek Lake State Park. This 280-acre park consists of woodlands around Martin Creek Lake. This serene body of water is perfect for watersports, and swimming, boating, and paddling are popular. Kayaks can be rented from the park office. Fishing is another favorite activity, and there's a lighted fishing pier where anglers regularly reel in tilapia, largemouth bass, and catfish. There are a few miles of trails around the park, including the mile-and-a-half-long Harmony Hill Loop, which passes by the remains of Harmony Hill, a small abandoned village. If you want to go hiking in a unique and beautiful environment, consider a trip to Daingerfield State Park. The park contains one of Texas's best forests, known as the East Texas Pineywoods, with hundreds of pine trees encircling the Little Pine Lake. One of the park's best trails is called the Rustling Leaves Trail, which runs through the trees and along the edge of the lake. There's also a more challenging trail that leads up to the highest point in the park. Despite being small, the lake is excellent for a variety of watersports, including paddling, boating, and fishing. Anglers commonly catch chain pickerel, catfish, and bass in these waters.

Questions about RVs?

Q.

What type of RV should I choose?

A.

Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.

You’ll also want to consider amenities. For example, if you’re planning to cook on the road, you’ll want a kitchenette. If your campground doesn’t have public restrooms, you’ll want to search RVs with bathrooms. Check out full descriptions of our models to help you decide here.

Q.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

A.

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

Q.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
