Initially built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1937, the Double Lake Recreation Area facilities include an RV-friendly campground as well as many fantastic opportunities for fishing, swimming, hiking, and picnicking in a stunning environment.Sam Houston/Double Lake is located on the east side of the Sam Houston National Forest near ColdSpring, TX. It surrounds the 24-acre Double Lake, which is decorated with lush hardwoods and whispering pine trees. Sam Houston/Double Lake campers will find a variety of tent, RV, and group campsites available at this facility. There are also a number of accessible campsites to choose from here as well.Take your pick from one of the family campsites and group camping options. Each camping unit features a fireplace, picnic table, tent pad, lantern-holder post, and parking spur. There are water, sewer, and 50 amp electrical hook-ups for folks planning on booking a campsite at Sam Houston/Double Lake for an RV rental.There are no dump stations at Sam Houston/Double Lake, but amenities at this campground do include flush toilets and showers. You’ll be able to easily quench your thirst with the on-site drinking water, which is available just a short distance from each campsite.
