This 113,000-acre national preserve is home to a diversity of habitats, flora, fauna, creeks, bayous, and the Neches River. The Big Thicket National Preserve Visitor Center offers an orientation film, information on cultural and natural history, educational displays, and a store with field guides, books, gifts, and souvenirs. There are approximately 40 miles of hiking trails of varying lengths in the preserve. Other outdoor recreational opportunities include paddling, canoeing, kayaking, and hunting and trapping.
