Discover Forest Retreat RV Park

Conveniently located on the outskirts of Houston and the southern edge of the Texas Lake Region, the Forest Retreat RV Park could be the ideal base for your next RV camping vacation.

The campground is beautifully laid out, with nearly 100 well-spaced sites ideal for your rental RV. Trees and bushes surround the campground, making it very attractive and a haven for birdlife. Every site is full hook-up with electricity, water, and sewage connection, plus there are free Wifi and cable connections. Around the campground, you'll find modern restrooms with hot showers and a laundry facility to make your stay very comfortable.

Once settled in, there's nothing better than a cooling dip in the large swimming pool or relaxing at the clubhouse with a free coffee. If you prefer your drinks a bit colder, there's also free ice.

You're on vacation, so regular chores need to be kept to the minimum, which is excellent here with a daily trash collection service and on-demand propane top-up service. These little touches make your motorhome camping vacation that much more enjoyable. Your four-legged friend doesn't have to miss out on the fun either as they are welcome at the Forest Retreat RV park. There's even an off-leash dog play area.

The Great Outdoors

Under one hour's drive north when you are camping at Forest Retreat RV Park is the Sam Houston National Forest. This vast forest covers over 160,000 acres and offers terrific recreational facilities. Whether you enjoy hiking, fishing, boating, or mountain biking, there's plenty of opportunities here.

Within the forest are several lakes, with Lake Conroe and Lake Livingston being perfect for boating. Canoe and boat rentals are available in some of the recreational areas, and specific regions of these two lakes are excellent for sailing boats.

The lakes are also suitable for anglers, looking to catch their dinner for the night! Many species are found here, including bass, bream, and catfish.

With so much land contained in the beautiful forest, the park is brilliant for hiking. For long-distance hikers, the 128-mile Lone Star Hiking Trail passes through the woodland. If this is a little too ambitious, then maybe the Four Notch Loop Trail that links with the Lone Star Trail is more suitable. The trail is graded as difficult, only because there are many short up and down sections along the way. Nothing too difficult if you are reasonably fit.

A couple of miles to the east of the campground, you could spend a relaxing day at the vast Lake Houston Wilderness Park. There are 20 miles of hiking trails, quiet creeks that are perfect for kayaking, and plenty of wildlife to try and spot.

Take a short drive south past Houston in the rental RV, and you will soon be at the Gulf of Mexico. All along the coast, you will find wildlife refuges and conservation areas, making it a perfect space for bird watching and discovering the native animals. Near Port Arthur is the 60,000-acre McFaddin National Wildlife refuge, with freshwater marshland that's perfect for some migratory birds. It is very popular with wildlife photographers trying to capture images of alligators, waterfowl, and other bird species. Throughout the refuge are boat ramps and fishing piers to encourage anglers, plus hikers can explore the many miles of trails.

Exploring the Area

When you book an RV in Montgomery County, you'll quickly discover that there is plenty to see and do. While RV camping at Forest Retreat RV Park, you are just minutes from the amenities of New Caney. This large town has a wide choice of restaurants and plenty of grocery stores, including the large chain supermarkets.

Right next door to the RV campground is the A.V. Bull Sallas Park. Along with a children's playground and sports facilities, there's also an events venue and rodeo. Every year in November, the County Fair, Rodeo, and BBQ cook-off are held here, a great family event when you a motorhome camping nearby.

Just north of Houston is the Grand Texas Theme Park, covering more than 600 acres of rides, waterpark, zip wires, shopping, dining, and more. With so many attractions, you could probably spend several days here, and the kids will love it.

Golfers will truly love this area, being surrounded by many golf courses, offering a range of challenges. You could visit a different course every day of a two-week vacation and still have more to find!
