Hawks Nest State Park is only a few miles from your campsite at Rifrafters Campground and provides over 250 acres of lush forests along the New River. Visitors can explore the many trails in the area, or you can ride the aerial tramway if you feel like exploring the park without working up a sweat. Watersports are popular here, and the New River is known to be one of the most challenging rivers in the country for whitewater rafting. Another popular activity is fishing, and anglers can catch panfish, catfish, and muskies in Hawks Nest Lake.Another nearby state park worth exploring while camping at Rifrafters Campground is Babcock State Park. This park is one of the most scenic sites in the region and features over 4,000 acres of dense forest and bluffs overlooking the area. Visitors will experience stunning views of the New River and New River Gorge, as well as the Glade Creek Grist Mill, a quaint operational mill. There are over 20 miles of trails to discover that will take you along clifftops, streams, and much more. Boley Lake is ideal for watersports such as boating and fishing, and catches include bluegill, bass, and trout.There are lots of great fishing spots around West Virginia, including Little Beaver State Park. This park covers over 500 acres of pastures and woodlands surrounding the 18-acre Little Beaver Lake. The lake is very popular with anglers, and catches include crappie, channel catfish, and bass. This calm lake is also ideal for kayaking, paddleboarding, and canoeing. There are also over 17 different hiking trails to use, in case you want to stay dry and explore this beautiful park.

Exploring the City

There are staff members in period clothing performing a variety of tasks and chores which will make you feel like you're back in pioneer times. There are a blacksmith shop and artisan center where you learn more about various skills, and a cafe, so you can grab a bite to eat.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? How does check-in work?

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
