Owner of the Week: Andrew Bucher

Meet the 3rd place winner of the Outdoorsy Success Story contest, Andrew Bucher! To enter, all owners had to do was send us their #successstory detailing the best booking they’ve had in 2020. All submissions were posted for the community, who decided the winners. Here’s Andrew’s story!

Before this year, Andrew’s fully renovated 1997 Fleetwood 32S was sitting more than it saw the road. That was until he and his wife started renting it out on Outdoorsy. In their first season, they had 4 bookings and earned almost $6K! Their RV is no longer just sitting. It has been all over the Tetons, Yellowstone, Glacier, Oregon Coast, Washington Coast, California, Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, Montana, Arizona, and more.

Needless to say, many families have enjoyed this “Family Fun Machine.” Andrew has found great success and renters on the rental platform as he tells us, “We have had great renters that have come to us with the Outdoorsy bookings, they have all been very excited for their trips, and all had fantastic adventures that will be lifetime memories for the entire family.” One family of great renters, the Youngman family, was Andrew’s first booking on Outdoorsy.

Erica, Bryan, and their three children rented the rig for a 15-day, 4,000-mile summer adventure. “They made a huge dent in their bucket list,” Andrew says, from Yellowstone to Mount Rushmore to the Grand Canyon. As the renters put it, “Somewhat spontaneous trip to some spots on our bucket list. We rented a sweet RV and headed off on an adventure!”

It must be said that the RV rental business is hard work, the biggest challenge for Andrew and his Class A being orientations. “Orientations are the biggest time-consuming task. I do a thorough walk around to be sure the renter is very familiar with all systems. These take an average of 2 hours; the longest was 4 hours for a 1st timer that could barely drive an SUV, let alone a 32′ RV.”

Andrew also notes that it does take time to prep, clean, and sanitize the RV, so know if you’re looking to get into the business, “the more your RV is kept ready, the better you are prepared to handle last-minute rentals.”

But, this hard work pays off, as Andrew’s multiple bookings and five-star reviews will tell you!
