Owners of the Week: Ginger and Lou Getz

Like so many others, Ginger and Lou Getz first joined the world of RVers when they wanted to get away during the pandemic. “We wanted to take a trip to Yellowstone,” Ginger explains. “No RV spaces were available during the dates we were traveling, so we chose the premier boondocking RV.”

The rig they picked? A beautiful class B campervan that can camp off-grid anywhere. And camp off-grid they did, having the time of their lives in the process. “Yellowstone was epic,” Ginger recalls.

Unfortunately, owning an RV (even a small class B) is incredibly expensive. “We chose to rent to help support the cost of owning our RV,” Ginger says. They named their RV “LoveShack” and listed it on Outdoorsy.

This is a decision many RV owners make, and for the Getzes, it seems to have been the right decision. “Our RV was listed for one week during May of 2020 before we got our first rental requests,” Ginger tells us. “Since then, we’ve made approximately $25,000 renting our camper.”

Ginger and Lou are very happy with their decision to rent their little RV and are equally happy with their experience with Outdoorsy. “We love the driver verification feature offered by Outdoorsy, and we find that the driver verification is very satisfactory,” Mrs. Getz shares.

Want to have a business as successful as the one Lou and Ginger run? They say it’s important to “be a subject expert on your rig or have one as a partner.” They also feel it’s important to give renters a chance to feel comfortable in the RV they’re renting before sending them out into the world. “Our onboarding process is particularly important to us,” Ginger says. “We require a two-hour orientation.”

The reason the orientation is so important to the Getzes is because they want their customers to have an amazing time. “We hope every guest has a once-in-a-lifetime memorable adventure and experience,” Ginger tells us.

It seems they must be doing something to help make this dream a reality. How do we know? “Our last clients got engaged on their trip,” Mrs. Getz shares. If that isn’t memorable, we don’t know what is!
