How I Made $26,000 On Outdoorsy

A new series profiling Outdoorsy's top owners

This is the first post in a regular series profiling Outdoorsy’s most successful RV owners.

First up is Corey Leamon, a San Diego native, and an early Outdoorsy user, who quickly became a favorite for renters. Read his Outdoorsy story in his own words.

Our RV has helped our family heal:  “Spending time outdoors together has been crucial in helping us cope with a terrible tragedy in our family. We bought a used Class C — which we affectionately call the Leamon Party Bus — a little over a year ago so we could go camping with our boys. A lot of friends and family wanted to borrow the RV, so we began researching safe ways to rent it out. That’s when we stumbled upon Outdoorsy. We loved the insurance coverage and calendar feature. We listed our little RV for friends to rent, not intending to start a business. But I got my first rental request from a complete stranger almost overnight!”

We’ve been getting back-to-back rentals: “It’s been a constant stream of business since that first booking. We made $8500 in the first 6 months on the site. By the end of 2017, I’m expecting to make a total of $26,000 renting my RV on Outdoorsy.”

Our RV now pays for itself: “All the money we’ve made has completely covered the cost of owning an RV. But better still, we’re now taking many more RV vacations ourselves. We use our trips for promotion and to gain camping knowledge to share with customers, but we’re also having a blast while we’re at it.”

We have complete peace of mind: “We love that Outdoorsy allows us to connect with families and help them have incredible camping experiences of their own. I also love not having to worry about any of the administrative details of renting my RV. Outdoorsy brings peace of mind to the transaction, with insurance, DMV checks, roadside assistance, and secure payments.”
