Bennett Peak Campground is aWyoming-based Bureau of Land Management property that is found in Rawlins. This camping facility is quite small with only 11 campsites on the grounds. However, this beautiful campground is big on charm and offers lots of interesting things for RV campers to do during their stay.

Watersports are the name of the game at Bennett Peak Campground. From boating and swimming to fishing and more, this popular recreational area has got it all. There is a boat launch on the premises which provides easy access for those itching to get their watercraft out on the water.

Located at an impressive height of 7,200 feet, Bennett Peak Campground is a natural habitat for many types of wildlife including , bighorn sheep, pronghorn antelope, wild turkey, bald eagle, mule deer, mountain lion, and rattlesnakes. The most popular fish found in the North Platte River which traverses the property are rainbow trout and brown trout.

In season, Bennett Peak Campground is frequented by hunters who travel to the region in search of deer, rabbits, foxes, and other game.

Driving

The most direct route to Bennett Peak Campground is accessed via I-80. Travelers should south along Wyoming State Highway 130 to the town of Riverside, picking up Wyoming State Highway 230 until they spot the exit for County Road 660. This country highway leads to a gravel path that provides access to Bennett Peak Road. Bennett Peak Road is a two-lane road comprised of dirt and stone which leads to the camping facility after a drive of approximately seven miles.

Parking

There is a provided parking lot comprised of sand and dirt located at the entrance to Bennett Peak Campground. Families can safely park their vehicles here. The campsites themselves offer a small paved section for cars.

Public Transportation

There is no public transportation available to Bennett Peak Campground.

Reservations camping

Red Desert Rose Campground

Red Desert Rose Campground offers year-round accommodations for RV and tent campers by reservation only.

A luxurious park, there are many amenities available at this campground including Wifi, free coffee, cable TV, a mini-golf course, a convenience store, and a gift shop.

For families with pets, there is a dog park on the grounds. In all other areas, dogs must be leashed.

Other things provided on the premises include laundry facilities, showers, bathrooms, drinking water, power hookups, and a waste disposal station.

This campground is easily able to handle large RVs and trailers.

Rawlins KOA Journey Campground

Rawlins KOA Journey Campground is a popular camping facility that offers RV and tent camping year-round by reservation only.

There are many amenities available at this campground including 50 amp power hookups, Wifi, cable TV, a public kitchen, and a picnic pavilion.

A dog park is provided on the grounds for RV campers' pets to use. Dogs may join their owners on the premises but must remain leashed.

Rawlins KOA Journey Campground can accommodate RV trailers up to a maximum of 70 feet in length.

Firewood and propane are available for purchase on the grounds.

Bennett Peak Campground

Bennett Peak Campground is a small camping facility that offers camping from June through November for RV and tent campers to enjoy. All campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

There are 11 campsites in total. Among the on-site amenities are vault toilets, drinking water, a boat launch, and excellent parking facilities.

Each campsite is furnished with a picnic table, a fire pit, a barbecue, and a parking space. It is important to note that there are no pull-through sites available at this campground.

Dogs are permitted at this camping facility but must remain leashed.

Bennett Peak Campground is nestled within some of the most beautiful scenery in the region. With impressive mountain ranges, incredible views of the rich expanse of Wyoming sky, and a wide array of wildlife, families are spoiled for choice when it comes to things to train their camera lenses on.

The terrain is quite varied at this campground, so families must come prepared to do some hiking while on their quest to find the perfect shot.

The wildflower cover in the region is spectacular in season.

Parco Sinclair Museum

Parco Sinclair Museum is a very unique property that is well worth a visit during a trip to Bennett Peak Campground. Originally the home of the First National Bank of Parco, this financial institution was first opened to the public in 1924. The bank closed in 1933.

The name Sinclair references the town in which the museum and former bank resides.

The building was opened the public as a museum in August 1990 and now houses many different pieces of memorabilia celebrating the town's heritage and culture.

Seminoe State Park

Seminoe State Park offers families the opportunity to enjoy some of the finest outdoor recreation in the state of Wyoming. The park itself sits in the middle of immense sand dunes and is characterized by its vast outcropping of sagebrush and the prevalence of pronghorn antelope and sage grouse.

Surrounded by the Seminoe Mountains, this park is particularly picturesque, making it the perfect place for taking some pictures.

Among the most beloved activities at Seminoe State Park are trout fishing, hiking, swimming, wildlife viewing, boating, and picnicking.

Both RV and tent camping are permitted here as well on a first-come, first-served basis.

The grounds at Bennett Peak Campground are extremely picturesque, making them the perfect place for families to enjoy a picnic lunch together. Pack a basket, grab a blanket, and set off on foot in search of the ideal spot to relax and feast on a meal with the mountains, forest, and river providing an incredible backdrop.

This popular recreational area does have several spots which include picnic tables. Fancy something a little more scenic? Lay out a blanket in the sand and enjoy a snack right along the banks of the North Platte River.

Carbon County Museum

Carbon County Museum offers families the opportunity to visit a truly unique place. The museum is dedicated to the preservation of the history of Carbon County and focuses on educating visitors to new and interesting facts about the region.

Carbon County Museum places a high emphasis on its educational programs which are designed to assist visitors with experiencing history in a novel manner. Among the topics covered at the museum are local artifacts, how to identify fossils, Native American heritage and culture, and the development of the Union Pacific Railroad.

Wyoming Frontier Prison Museum

Wyoming Frontier Prison Museum is an interesting place to visit during a trip to Bennett Peak Campground. A prison that was in operation from 1901-1981, this penitentiary now takes pride of place on the National Register of Historic Places. Tours of the former prison are available daily and take visitors through several cell blocks, the former dining hall, the outdoor yards, as well as the building where executions of death row prisoners occurred.

The Wyoming State Penitentiary, as it was originally called, was built to send a message to the outlaws of the land that justice would be served in the state. The prison once housed many infamous criminals.
