Sleek RV that drives like an SUV. Perfect for couples traveling with a young child or dogs, and very good on gas mileage. Daily rate includes unlimited miles/day and length of stay discounts are automatically applied. Plug in your dates of travel to see them. She's been very busy as a preferred rental and comes with a few disclaimers that require explanation but for the most part a lot of fun and easy to use. For example, the cabinet latches are sensitive and the awning requires a little finagle to get it set up properly. The bench seat that turns into a bed has to be manually adjusted instead of pressing a button. The retractable step for side door has been replaced with a portable step stool. For light camping, it's perfect but for those more fastidious, everything must be perfect campers, it might not be the best fit. A previous renter had some unfortunate issues because they relied on dry camping with the generator. The circuit breaker tripped and we did not troubleshoot the issue enough. Things like that happen and we will work through everything as they come up. Dry camping is not recommended in this vehicle in the hot summer months because you cannot rely on the small, emergency generator in this RV. It is perfect for two adults but three is ok too if the third is a toddler or another adult who doesn't mind a sleeping mat on the floor, or can use the inflatable bed that goes across the front seats. She's a blast to drive with a fuel-efficient diesel engine that gets almost 20 mpg on the open road with great views of scenery while driving. Please read all the reviews and check out Big Bertha's Sister and Big Bertha's Brother, Bubba for more details.

What's included

Bring your own sleeping gear. The bed is closest to a queen size for your sheets or sleeping bags. Please also bring your own toiletries and cleaning supplies - we typically discard everything between rentals. We include cookware, utensils, coffee maker, plates and silverware or you can bring your own and take with you or discard at the end. There are two folding camp chairs and a broom. This is not the Ritz Carlton :)

Recommendations

Public parks across the nation are great places to stay. Hook up to any RV campsite and you've got a 1 Br Condo on wheels.

Other things to note

We don't charge for cleaning or dumping and we expect that each renter dumps and clean sweeps before returning by the honor system.

My dog Chuck and I love to go on weekend excursions in this RV when it is not rented out on Outdoorsy. We are also avid sailors from the Harborview Marina in Baltimore.

We are dog-friendly, laid back RV campers that just happened upon three similar Roadtrek SS Agile RVs based on our original Big Bertha. We wanted one as a backup and then Covid occurred and we decided on a third. This is not our main business. The more willingness to go with the flow and address things as they come up with troubleshooting, the better. We have a great Sprinter mechanic and we can fix just about everything or have a viable workaround for the RV functions. For example, the awning legs for these are no longer made so we have aftermarket legs that seem to work fine but have to be attached manually.

Patrick is easy to work with. Good value vehicle. Has many miles on it so it shows it's age. Runs great and had a good trip.

We had an amazing trip and would definitely rent one of Patrick's RVs again. This rig is well used and has a few glitches, HOWEVER, Patrick does a great job of explaining, warning, and level setting in the description. I suspect those who left negative comments didn't thoroughly read and were too impatient to work through issues. Patrick did a great job of doing an introduction and was responsive while we were away for the weekend. Everything worked exactly as we expected it to and this trip marked the official end of my tent camping days. :)

INCREDIBLE rental for lovers of the outdoors and roadtrips. Big Bertha was super comfortable and was exactly what we needed for this trip. Patrick is extremely pleasant and responsive. Will rent this camper van again in a heartbeat if available for our next roadtrip

October 20215

My husband and I like to go camping and backpacking but given that we wanted to do a week long trip up North we were looking for a little more comfort and convenience. A camper van seemed like the perfect solution and indeed it was. We picked up the van on a Friday morning and spent an hour on the phone with Patrick for orientation. He explained the operations and quirks of Bertha to us and made sure we were able to successfully operate every aspect of the vehicle (setting up tables, lighting the stove, accessing the dump hose, etc). As soon as orientation was over we took the van to our house to pack it up. The kitchen has all of the dishes and utensils you could need (pots, pans, plates, eating utensils, spatula, basic spices including salt & pepper, little bit of olive oil, etc) although we opted to bring our cast iron skillets as well. The back seat turns into a pretty comfy queen sized bed which we slept very well in. As a diesel engine, Bertha handled the hills of the Adirondack region and Vermont very well. We felt very safe driving her and she even felt fairly agile on the twists and turns of the mountainous roads (we did have a couple occasions when books and games flew out of the locked cabinets which we got a good laugh out of). We were even able to take Bertha into Burlington, VT and park her on the street while we visited a couple of breweries. We stayed at different campsites the whole trip but somehow did not have hookup at most of them (despite me thinking that's what I had booked), but with only using the mini fridge and the overhead lights at night we did not need the hookup. We were on the move every 1-2 days which Patrick had said should be ok for the battery life however if we needed to troubleshoot to just give him a call (he is very responsive!). We ended our week long trip at a family get together where we got to show off the van that we had been living in the past week. Patrick let us return the van late so that we could spend the day with them (thank you!!). We would definitely recommend Bertha to anyone looking for a similar adventure and will hold these memories dear to us for decades to come!! Thank you Bertha and Patrick!
