Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival

Planning an RV trip to LA? Stop at the Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival for some great live music and all the festivities that are part of the event.

Event information

Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival is a music festival and carnival that takes place annually in Los Angeles, California. Well-known rapper and record producer, Tyler, the Creator, has curated the lineup of the festival in past years.

It was started in 2012 at the parking lot of The Novo Theater as the Odd Future Carnival or OFWGKTA Carnival. It began as a one-day festival but was extended to two days in 2016. Just 2,000 guests attended the first event, and the artists who performed were Tyler’s friends.

It soon picked up momentum and garnered plenty of media attention. Artists like Lana Del Rey, Vince Staples, Kid Cudi, Alison Wonderland, Rex Orange County, Little Dragon, Billie Eilish, Flatbush Zombies, Alexander Spit, and Jaden Smith have performed at Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival in the past. Multinational brands like Converse, Universal Pictures, and Rockstar Games have partnered with the organizers to sponsor stages and activations.

In addition to the incredible lineup of world-class musical acts, the event also features a range of food vendors, carnival games and rides. The giant Ferris wheels which guests line up to ride on are lit up, transforming the skyline of the area.

Tickets

There are General Admission, VIP, and Super VIP passes available. All tickets are for both days of the festival. Prices range from $235 for two-day General Admission passes to $950 for two-day Super VIP tickets. The VIP and Super VIP passes will give you access to an exclusive clubhouse, a separate entry lane, special viewing areas, and premium merchandise packages.

Payment plans are available for patrons who’d prefer to pay in monthly installments. If you’re interested in the games and rides, you can opt for the two-day unlimited carnival games add-on. Where to stay

Onsite

Onsite camping options are not available at the venue. But there are some great RV parks to choose from in the Los Angeles area.

Nearby

Since Dodger Stadium is located in an urban area, the nearest RV park is about 30 minutes away. You may want to consider driving to the coast to find a campsite. This way you can get away from the hustle and bustle of the center and enjoy being by the beach.

Getting around

Dune buggies, golf carts, bikes, hoverboards, skates, Segways and skateboards will not be allowed into the stadium. The site has plenty of accessible pathways and routes. Patrons with disabilities will be allowed to use wheelchairs and scooters. Wheelchairs can be recharged at the access center present on the venue.

What to pack

Clothing

The Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival is a great place to spot LA fashion trends. Guests may be dressed to impress in bright colors, vibrant prints, and stunning headdresses, but many attendees may enjoy wearing traditional t-shirt and shorts attire. You can coordinate outfits and accessories with the rest of your group. This will make it easy to spot each other in a crowd.

Gear

Only single compartment bags, fanny packs and small purses will be permitted into the festival site. Be sure to carry a few essentials like sunscreen, a hat, earplugs, chapstick, binoculars, gum, and a refillable water bottle. Aerosol or glass containers, coolers, umbrellas, blankets, beach towels or chairs will not be allowed.

Health & Safety

Lockers are available for rent if you’d like to store your belongings in a safe place. If you lose something, you can file a claim on the website, and you will be informed if your item is found. Be prepared with sunscreen and a glass-free water container to fill once you arrive. Medications may be brought into the venue with original labeling intact; be sure to review the regulations regarding any specific needs.

Where to eat

Cooking

Food and cooking supplies will not be allowed in the stadium. Some of the campgrounds in the area come with fire rings, and any fire you light must be contained within these, but remember to check for fire bans in Southern California shortly before your departure. Basic supplies and groceries are available in the vicinity of these sites as well. So take your camping experience up a notch by cooking up some grilled fish or toasting some s’mores.

Restaurants

There are some great restaurants to dine at right outside the stadium gates. Chinatown, which has some excellent eateries, is less than 10 minutes away. Here you can find some delicious burgers, specialty coffee, and even southern comfort food like gumbo and jambalaya. Hungry fans will also find authentic Mexican, Japanese, and Korean food on offer in the area.

Vendors

Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival will have plenty of great food available at the concession stands. Roaming vendors will also be selling tasty snacks and drinks. Some of the must-try eats are the garlic fries, hot dogs, and the Beyond Meat burgers. Alcoholic beverages, beer, and wine will be available for purchase by guests at least 21 years of age.

Safety

Security

Security personnel will be present at the gates, and all your belongings will be checked before entry. Guests will be required to pass through a metal detector as well. Check the list of prohibited items and ensure that you’re not carrying anything on the Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival. Patrons are requested to report any inappropriate behavior to security or festival staff.

Weather

While the weather is typically warm and sunny in August, it is also the start of the rainy season. So go prepared for showers with a rain poncho; umbrellas are not allowed in the venue. The festival will go on unless the weather turns unexpectedly severe.

Medical

There are several first-aid locations which will be clearly marked out on the festival map. Medications will be allowed in as long as they are stored in labeled containers and accompanied by the proper prescription. Patrons can head to the access center for any information or support related to the accessibility of the venue.
