Point of Interest

Going to a Memphis Grizzlies Game

Around 190 miles further east from Hot Springs is the city of Memphis, where there are plenty of activities suitable for couples of all ages that aren't just visiting Graceland. One of the best things to do in Memphis is to pay a visit to the FedEx Forum and go watch the Memphis Grizzlies play some NBA basketball.

The crowds at Grizzlies games are known for being very passionate and the in-game entertainment is some of the best in the league, so get ready to have some fun and cheer on the team (or the opposition if you dare) during your visit to the city. Games are held from late October until mid-April, and if the team is doing great you might even be in town when they are hosting a playoff game! Tickets are usually cheaper in Memphis than other arenas in the country, so your wallet will also thank you for going to a game here instead of in Dallas.

Memphis is known for having fantastic barbecue, so make sure you check out Central BBQ, Payne's Bar-B-Que, or Blues City Cafe before you continue your trip to the final destination. RV camping is available on all sides of the city with Tom Sawyer's RV Park being one of the best places to stay.

Hot Springs National Park

Hot Springs, Arkansas has got to be one of the most attractive destinations in the whole country for a couple looking to get away for the weekend. Nestled amongst the Ouachita Mountains, the city is named after the most famous feature of the surrounding area - the hot springs. This is the ideal spa getaway and a wonderful place to spoil your loved one.

Most of the hot springs in the area are located within Hot Springs National Park, which is to the north of the city center. Bathing in the hot water is an ideal way to recharge your batteries and rest your muscles, but if you stay in too long you will be looking like a shriveled prune! The Fordyce Bathhouse is the visitor center for the park, and after visiting here you will be equipped with all of the knowledge that you will need to make the most out of your visit.

You have some great camping options when visiting Hot Springs National Park, including the Gulpha Gorge Campground within the park or the Hot Springs National Park KOA if you are seeking some more amenities during your stay.

Date Night in Dallas

Since you are starting your trip in a major city it only makes sense to make it a romantic date night. A lot of the more fancy restaurants in Dallas are located on the north side of town, so if you are ok with spending some cold hard cash on a nice meal this is the area of town to check out.

For those looking for a date on a budget, how does bowling sound? Bowl & Barrel contains some bowling lanes and well-priced main meals so you can have some fun on a lane and also grab a bite to eat and have a drink. Another great option for a date night is head to the Galaxy Drive-In where you can park your motorhome at the back of the lot and view a movie with your loved one.

There is a wide range of RV campgrounds to choose to spend the first night of your trip, including the Dallas / Arlington KOA Holiday that has full hookup sites and sites suitable for rigs up to 102 feet in length.

Summary

This RV road trip is sure to fly by since it is full of fun activities suited for couples, but since it does have to end, Birmingham is an awesome place to be your last stop. Whether you want to take it easy or do more exploring, there are plenty of options in Birmingham so you won't be bored.

A lot of the most visited areas in and around the city are to do with natural areas, so if you and your partner are up for some exploring you can check out the nearby Oak Mountain State Park or Birmingham Botanical Gardens. Both of these places offer the chance to spend some quality time with your loved one before you both have to go back to the real world, and if you are thinking of popping the question you could choose a much worse location than either of these two sublime spots. You could also visit the zoo, the art gallery, or hang out at the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum.

Your last supper for this RV road trip should be a memorable one, which is why you should treat yourselves to a fancy candlelit Italian meal at Gianmarco's Restaurant.
