This lovely forested campground is ideal for those seeking popular amenities over secluded simplicity. If you're looking for a quiet space for contemplation and nature exploration, you'll most likely prefer one of New York’s more primitive camping options.

Hearthstone Point Campground offers a variety of camping options whether you're looking for a short weekend stay or a longer vacation. This campground has enough amenities to sustain an extended stay. Guests will find a sandy swimming beach, grilling an picnicking areas, a playground, a camp store, hot showers, flush toilets, and a dump station and recycling center. Many recreational activities are only a short drive away. You can also find horseback riding, golfing, boating, hiking, and swimming options within minutes of the campground.

The campground maintains over 200 camping sites many of which accommodate RV’s up to 40-feet in length. Guests will find each site outfitted with a fire ring, a grate for grilling, and a picnic table. Quiet hours are strictly enforced between the hours of 10-pm and 7 am with generator use allowed between the hours of 9 am-11 am and 4 pm-7 pm.

Guests will find Hearthstone Point Campground located approximately two-miles north of Lake George. Guests traveling from Lake George will take US-9 N. Veer to the right onto NY-9 N/Lake Shore Dr and continue for approximately two miles. The campground will be located on the right just beyond Clinton Inn. If you reach Flat Rock Rd on the left, you have gone too far.

Parking

Guests to Hearthstone Point Campground will find ample parking available to them. There's parking near the swimming area, the picnic area, and one of the shower areas. You'll also find parking available at the camp sites.

Guests to this park can take advantage of its location along the shore of 28,160-acre Lake George. There are many opportunities to engage in outdoor activities in the near vicinity. The park offers a sandy swimming beach with grills and picnic tables located nearby. The massive lake running along the eastern side of the park offers excellent fishing, boating and paddling options. Guests will find superb hiking options, horseback riding, and golfing opportunities nearby.

Camping at Hearthstone Point offers the best of both worlds. Enjoy time in natural surroundings and partake in the features of this resort local. Guests wishing to camp at Hearthstone Point Campground will find over 200 sites available to them. There are sites accommodating RV’s up to 40-feet in length. Each camp site comes equipped with a picnic table, a fire ring, and a grate for grilling. The park maintains bathhouses with flush toilets and hot showers. RV campers will find a dump station within the park. Although quiet hours are strictly enforced from 10 pm to 7 am, guests are welcome to run their generators up to five hours a day.

In-Season

Swimming

Be sure to pack a swimsuit before heading out to this lovely wooded park located along Lake George. The park maintains a pleasant sandy beach for swimming. Guests will find charcoal grills and picnic tables located nearby. So, grab a spot on the sand and enjoy an afternoon of relaxation with views of lovely Lake George. Out of safety concerns the park only allows swimming when a lifeguard is on duty. Guests will find beach hours will be posted. The beach is located at the bottom of a large hill. However, there is parking available near the beach, so you can drive over if you are packing a lot for the day.

Prospect Mountain

Guests spending time at Hearthstone Point Campground and Day-Use Area will want to pack their hiking boots. Located in the lovely Adirondack Mountains, this park has great hiking opportunities located nearby. One popular place to hike is Prospect Mountain which rises 2030 feet into the air and offers stunning views. Hikers will find a well-marked four-mile out and back trail to the summit. Although the hike can take several hours, it is suitable for both experienced and casual hikers. Guests interested in experiencing the stunning views available at the summit, can choose to park and ride the shuttle if they aren’t up to the hike. Visitors will also find picnic areas and restrooms available for their use.

Fort William Henry Museum and Restoration

Reconstructed Fort William Henry, located in Lake George, was an English outpost that serves as a staging ground for military attacks on French entrenchments in the 1750’s. Open daily from 9:30 am – 6:00 pm during the season, the fort is now a museum which invites guests to explore the fort grounds as part of a general admission or as part of a ghost tour. Guests should note that reservations are required for the ghost tour.

Lovely Hearthstone Point Campground offers excellent fishing opportunities. This campground and day-use facility, located on the eastern shore of 28,160-acre Lake George, is an excellent place to cast a line and try your hand at catching dinner. The lake is home to landlocked salmon, several species of trout and bass, northern pike, and a handful of other pan fish. Fishing licenses are required and can be purchased online prior to heading out to the park.

Chapman Historical Museum

Guests to Hearthstone Point Campground with an interest in history and local culture will want to make the trip to the Chapman Historical Museum. Located in nearby Glenn Falls, the museum is open year-round Tues-Sat 10 am – 4 pm and Sundays 12 pm – 4 pm. This museum invites guests to explore hands-on exhibits in the DeLong’s House where each room provides insights into a different aspect of every-day-life in the area. Other exhibits include the Stoddard Gallery and historical information on historic architecture of the area.

Geocaching

Guests to Hearthstone Point Campground with an interest in this modern sport of treasure hunting will be happy to hear that they can include geocaching into their Lake George adventure. Those new to the concept of geocaching may want to give this inexpensive outdoor activity a try. Guests looking for the “Welcome to Hearthstone Point Campgrounds” cache will be looking for a micro-cache. As you would expect, the size of this cache adds to the difficulty of the hunt. Still, the cache is moderately easy to find and located in fairly easy terrain.
