Featuring 29 square miles of water and 14 square miles of land, Lake O’ The Pines is a recreational oasis for outdoor recreation and memorable camping holidays. With its modern facilities and beautiful landscapes, this US Army Corps of Engineers park located east of Dallas, Texas, can be easily accessed along highways and roads by vacationers and guests coming in their RVs, trailers, and other vehicles.
Tent, group, and RV camping options are available within the park’s campgrounds. Campsites are pet-friendly and consist of flush toilets and restrooms, potable water, picnic tables as well as parking pads. Campground amenities include dump stations, playgrounds, swimming beaches, and boat launch ramps.
Recreational opportunities at this COE park include boating, sailing, and boarding, as well as angling for sunfish, crappie, catfish, and various species of bass. Driving

Located east of Dallas, Texas, Lake O’ The Pines is a US Army COE park that is easy to access via a network of highways and major roads such as Interstate 30 and Highway 49. As a result, you’ll be able to drive to the park in your RVs, trailers, and other motorized vehicles. RV and trailer rentals are available nearby at Longview.

Parking

Parking spaces are available for vacationers and visitors at and around Lake O’ The Pines for RVs, trailers and cars at the campground and recreation areas. Overnight parking facilities are also available.

Reservations camping

Alley Creek Campground

Alley Creek Campground is a pet-friendly campground on the north shore of Lake O’ The Pines, open from March to September, and available by reservation. Tent, group and RV camping options are present within the campground.

There are 49 RV campsites, each with electric and water hookups, picnic tables, and potable water. Dump stations, restrooms and a playground are also present within the campground. A boat launch and swimming beach are available.

RV length limit at the campground is 80 feet.

Brushy Creek Campground

Brushy Creek Campground is a pet-friendly campground on the south shore of Lake O’ The Pines, open from March to November, and available by reservation. Tent and RV camping options are present within the campground.

There are 62 RV campsites, each with electric and water hookups, picnic tables, water hydrants, and potable water. Dump stations, restrooms with flush toilets and a playground are also present within the campground. A boat launch and swimming beach are available.

RV length limit at the campground is 100 feet.

Buckhorn Creek Campground

Buckhorn Creek Campground is a pet-friendly campground on the banks of Lake O’ The Pines at the end of Ferrel's Bridge Dam, open all year-round, and available by reservation. Tent and RV camping options are present within the campground.

There are 58 RV campsites, each with electric and water hookups, picnic tables, water hydrants, and potable water. Dump stations, restrooms with flush toilets and a playground are also present within the campground. A boat launch is available at the park.

RV length limit at the campground is 100 feet.

Johnson Creek Campground

Johnson Creek Campground is a pet-friendly campground on the north shore of Lake O’ The Pines, open all year-round, but available by reservation only in peak season (March to September). Tent, group and RV camping options are present within the campground.

There are 63 RV campsites, each with electric and water hookups, picnic tables, water hydrants, and potable water. Dump stations, restrooms with flush toilets and a playground are also present within the campground. A boat launch, courtesy dock, and swimming beach are available at the park.

RV length limit at the campground is 70 feet.

In-Season

Boating

Boating is an exciting activity at Lake O’ The Pines, owing to the numerous boating facilities that are available within the park’s areas. Boaters can make use of any of the 16 boat ramps that are present, as well as day-use facilities with ramps.

Various boating and water-based recreational opportunities within the park include general boating, boarding and skiing, and use of personal watercraft. The use of lifejacket is recommended for all who wish to explore the park’s waters.

Fishing

Lake O’ The Pines is a popular destination among RV campers and visitors who enjoy angling. Opportunities are open to those who love to fish from the banks of the lake, as well as those who prefer to go on boats and make their catch on the lake. Off-Season

Hunting

Seven square miles of hunting lands are available at Lake O’ The Pines for vacationers and visitors who love to hunt game. Moreover, the 29 square miles of water surface available at the park offer great waterfowl hunting possibilities for guests.

No hunting permits are required at this US COE park. However, all hunters are required to follow hunting laws so that all will remain safe in the park. Huntable game in the park’s areas includes squirrel, eastern wild turkey, feral hogs, as well as waterfowl.

Swimming

If you’re an avid swimmer, or love to sit by the beach to enjoy the cool fresh breeze from the lake, then you’ll find plenty of space to have fun and pursue your interest at Lake O’ The Pines. This is because there are many beaches available for swimming at the park. Designated swimming beaches are available at Johnson Creek, Brushy Creek, and Alley Creek Campgrounds in the park, as well as at Johnson, Shady Grove, and Lakeside Park Day Use Areas.
