Pike Lake Provincial Park
RV Guide

Introduction

Pike Lake Provincial Park is popular for its thick grasses, manicured lawns, and groves of aspen, ash, and birch trees. The oxbow lake breaks off of the South Saskatchewan River and features a 1.2 mile (2 kilometer) long waterway.

Because of its small size, the lake is a great fit for non-motorized fishing boats and canoes. Canoes and paddle boats can be rented in the park. Visitors can enjoy a narrow swimming beach with nearby picnic areas and a playground. Water lovers can also access a heated outdoor swimming pool with a water slide during the summer months.

The park offers ample day use activities including miniature golf, tennis, and volleyball. Hikers can explore two nature trails with observation decks for scenic views of the lake, prairie, and sand dunes.

The park store and concession building sells food, beach equipment, and other basic items. Stop by for ice cream or a cool drink.

Pike Lake Campground offers RV camping from May through September. The campground features 222 campsites, all but 11 of which have electrical hookups. Each site includes a picnic table and fire grate. Campers have access to drinking water taps, toilets, and garbage bins. There are also shower stations and a laundromat at the campground service center.

A long, narrow, sandy beach on the shore of Pike Lake provides the perfect location for sand castles and sunbathing. The park’s leisure pool area offers a heated outdoor swimming pool with a water slide open to guests June through Labor Day. Lifeguards are on duty at the pool but not at the swimming beach.

Canoes and paddle boats can be rented in the park. A boat launch is located at the northern end of the park with an adjacent parking area for vehicles and boat trailers. Boaters can keep an eye out for local wildlife. Be sure to look overhead for the eagles that live near the lake.

Hiking

Pike Lake Provincial Park features two nature trails for hikers looking to explore the park. The Lakeside Promenade Trail is handicap accessible and follows along the shores of Pike Lake. The Gift of Green Nature Trail takes guests on a 0.9 mile (1.5 kilometer) loop through the parks wooded areas, prairie, and sand dunes. Bicycles are not permitted on hiking trails.

Off-Season

Miniature Golf and Beach Games

The day use area at Pike Lake Provincial Park offers a variety of amenities for locals and visiting campers to enjoy. A miniature golf course is located near the leisure pool. Putters of all ages are welcome to try their hand at a hole-in-one for an additional fee.

Interpretive Programs

When scheduled in advance, a park interpreter can lead guests along the Gift of Green Nature Trail. The interpreter answers questions and shares information on the native plants and animals that call the park home. Be prepared to learn the smells of popular plants like mint, sage, and juniper. You’ll also learn about plants that First Nations people used for healing and spiritual rituals. Discover how to identify dangerous plants like poison ivy, cactus, and stinging nettle.

Pike Lake Provincial Park is the perfect destination for an outdoor meal no matter the time of season. Picnic areas are included at each campsite and near the swimming pool and Pine Point rest area. Pets are allowed on leash at designated picnic tables with white “Pets OK” signage.
