Polipoli Spring State Recreation Area-Maui is located 9.7 miles from the town of Kula on the Hawaiian island of Maui. The property was once a lush forest area. Today, this recreational hotspot is comprised of 10 acres resting within the Kula Forest Reserve.

When Polipoli Spring State Recreation Area-Maui was founded, many of the trees indigenous to the region were removed to make way for the inclusion of amenities for visitors. In the 1930's, an effort was made to promote fresh tree growth through the planting and nurturing of the following tree varieties: pines, eucalyptus, tropical ash, China fir, cypress, and redwood.

Polipoli Spring State Recreation Area-Maui rises to an elevation of 6,200 feet, meaning it experiences cooler temperatures which rapidly move towards the freezing point during the evenings. The area is also popular for hunting boar. For this reason, visitors to the park are advised to dress in bright colors to avoid being mistaken for prey.

From the pinnacle of the climb, there are breathtaking views of Central and West Maui as well as Kaho'olawe, Molokai, and Lanai when the skies are clear. Unfortunately, this area does experience a great deal of fog which can obscure the view.
