Driving

Pack your GPS and get ready to get on the road to Robert H. Treman State Park. There is one main road into the park that is located off Enfield Falls Road, along with a tighter unsealed road that is not as commonly used. Driving on the main road will be easy for RV drivers of any skill level, but the unsealed road could be a little more difficult for even skilled RVers. If you need to get any supplies before your visit to the park, there are a few towns, only a short drive away, including Ithaca, Enfield, and Newfield. There are no major cities close by, with Syracuse being a 60-mile drive and Rochester being more than 90 miles away. The park is perfect for a day trip or a week-long vacation; you’ll be glad you made it here!
The campground at Robert H. Treman State Park is more of the rustic type, so be aware that the internal roads may take some patience to navigate. The camping sites with electricity are not quite level and may cause difficulty in parking larger RVs. Consider packing leveling blocks to make this part of the trip easier. Travel tip—there are no pull-through sites at this park, so be prepared to back-in your RV.

Robert H. Treman State Park has one campground suitable for RV travelers with sites set in a quiet forest or open field. There are 70 campsites to choose from, including 11 sites that are equipped with electric hookups. Electrical sites are the only extra amenities, as there are no water or sewer hookups at the campground, but luckily, all sites include a picnic table and fire ring. Campers will find flush toilets and free showers in well-maintained facilities within the campground. There is also a dump station that you can use and a playground for the kids. Firewood is available onsite for purchase if needed.
If you plan to camp at this state park, you will need to make a reservation in advance; the peak season is from April to November. If your dog or cat plans to tag along on your adventure, bring your proof of rabies vaccination with you as it is a requirement of all NY State Parks. Off-Season

Hiking

Grab your boots and get ready to hit the trails as you enjoy the fresh air within Robert H. Treman State Park. The park is a very popular place for hikers of all ages, especially on Saturday mornings! Join the hiking group near the start of the Rim Trail, and from here, the hike will lead you to a view from an overlook of Lucifer Falls. The hiking group also travels a section of the Finger Lakes Trail, and the hike lasts for around four and a half miles, but the length may vary due to the weather or the conditions of the trail. If you want to join the group, hike registration is not required; turn up!

Heritage Day Celebrations

Held on a day in October each year, learn more about the history of Robert H. Treman State Park and its importance to the Ithaca area during the Heritage Day Celebrations. Open to visitors of all ages, join a member of the state park’s staff and archaeologists on a one-hour guided one-mile hike and history tour. Learn how the park was created, local Ithaca area history, and the region's natural history. Grab your hiking boots out of the rig and enjoy guided tours of the Old Mill, Upper Park, Upper Gorge, and Lucifer Falls.

Fishing

If you love to fish, you should pack your rod and reel into your RV and check out the fishing spots at Robert H. Treman State Park. There are many great places along Enfield Creek for you to choose from, including some that are accessible by wheelchairs. The best way to go fishing is to cast out from the shoreline. Fly fishing is the most popular kind of fishing, and trout are very common in this waterway. There will be no fishing gear rentals available within the park, so make sure to pack your own.

Hosted in the North Picnic Area, grab a blanket, and enjoy the beauty of the evening. Bring the family for fun activities that include model rockets and pocket solar system. If you have a telescope, remember to pack it as it is perfect for all astronomy fans on a clear, crisp evening.

Swimming

Robert H. Treman State Park is blessed with some incredible swimming opportunities. Have an adventure like no other as you jump from a diving board into a waterfall. A tradition of this the state park, generations have enjoyed this popular swimming hole. Only a five to 15-minute walk from the campground, swimming is only open during the season. The swimming hole is the perfect place to cool off to enjoy after a hard hike or to enjoy on a sunny day. The park does provide trained lifeguards that are on duty.

Lucifer’s Crossing Running Event

Hit the trails and take on this running challenge at Lucifer’s Crossing. Held in the fall, this six and a half-mile run includes 1,400 feet with countless stairs in the first three miles. You can catch your breath as you take in the majestic waterfalls of Lucifer's Falls and scenic views from the trail. There is also a free kid’s hill climber race in the morning before the run so that the little ones can get involved. If you think you have what it takes, registration can be done online.

Picnicking

Whether you are going on a solo picnic or planning a large gathering, there are plenty of picnicking options waiting for you to enjoy. The park has many picnic locations, including near the Lower Falls and the Upper Gorge. These two areas feature handy amenities that add to the experience, such as playgrounds, grills, multiple picnic tables, and shelters. Large groups can also reserve picnic pavilions online in advance for a fee to guarantee their picnicking spot for the day.
