The options for recreation available to you at Success Lake range from water-based activities, to wildlife-related pursuits and group/family activities. At this park, you can fish for rainbow trout, bass, crappie and more, hunt for dove and pheasant, and watch birds and other wildlife do their thing. Kayaking and swimming are also popular. Picnics and sport activities are other ways you can stay active in this park. On the other hand, if you just want to enjoy a quiet time alone in the park, there’s also room for that.
At Success Lake, there’s an RV campground that offers electric and water hookups for motorhomes. The campsites are available by reservations and open year-round.

Transportation
Driving
Success Lake is located within the Sierra Nevada foothills, along Highway 190, just 8 miles east of Porterville, Tulare County, California. This COE park is easy to locate and access by RVs, trailers and other motorized vehicles. For vacationers who wish to enjoy RV camping at this lake park, rigs are available at the nearby Sequoia National Forest. There are no driving restrictions within the park.
Parking
Parking areas are provided for RVs, trailers, and cars at Success Lake for vacationers and visitors. The campground within the park also has designated parking spaces for rigs. Moreover, overnight parking is available.
Public Transportation
There are no direct public transport services to Success Lake. Tulare County Area Transit (TCaT) offers public transit services within Tulare County but does not provide transportation to Success Lake.

Reservations camping
Tule Campground
Tule Campground, a pet-friendly campground in Success Lake, with 103 campsites is open year-round for RV and tent camping on reservations basis. This Army Corps of Engineer park campground offers a variety of opportunities to campers who enjoy kayaking, fishing, boating, and a host of other fun pursuits.
Each campsite in this campground is equipped with a fire pit, table, frill and parking spur. Moreover, you’ll find restrooms with showers and flush toilets in the campground. Dump station, drinking water, boat ramps, amphitheater and playgrounds are also available.
Electric and water hookups are available within several campsites in Tule Campground and RVs/trailers up to 80 feet can be accommodated.
Maximum stay in the campground is 14 days in any 30-day period. Quiet hours are between 10 pm and 6 am.

Off-Season
Sequoia National Forest
If you’re up to it, you can take a trip to Sequoia National Forest, located a few miles to the east of Success Lake for a chance to enjoy recreational opportunities not readily available at Success Lake. You can engage in hiking, biking and horseback riding on the more than 200 trails available within the national forest and knock yourself out. Sequoia National Forest, which shares boundaries with Sequoia National Park to the north offers a total recreational experience.
Day Use Recreation
There’s no better way or place to spend your day while you’re on vacation at, or visiting, Success Lake than at Tule Recreation Area. Furnished with individual and group picnic sites and a playground, you’ll have opportunities to enjoy meals with family and/or friends or a group, as well as watch your kids play as you take in the park’s scenic views. There’s a softball field too at the nearby Bartlett Park for softball enthusiasts. Moreover, young adults can try out their fishing skills at any of the large fishing ponds that are provided.
Hunting
Opportunities to hunt for game are available in Success Lake within the 2.2 sq. mile Wildlife Management Area in the park. As a result, RV campers and visitors fancy hunting can come to the park and go after the game species residing in the wildlife area. Only the use of shotguns is allowed within the area and appropriate licenses are required. The most commonly hunted species in this Corps of Engineers park are dove and pheasant.
In-Season
Birding
Success Lake, a COE park that is well known for its arid grasslands and irrigated orange groves, is home to various wildlife, particularly birds. Bird watchers and lovers, for this reason, enjoy visiting this park as they get to enjoy the view of Canada geese and American white pelicans on the lake, as well as western grebes, mallards and American coots. The shallow wetlands around the lake attract other bird species like egrets, herons, belted kingfishers, and sandpipers. Beyond doubt, this lake park is one of the best places for birding in Tulare County.
Water Recreation
Abundant recreational opportunities are available at Success Lake for campers and visitors that fancy water-related activities. You get to choose and enjoy which activity interests you most, be it water-skiing, boating, or sailing. If you fancy all three, there’s nothing stopping you, as long as you have the proper gear and supplies. If you don’t have any gear, then rest easy as Success Marina in the Tule Recreation Area is replete with boating supplies and rentals for your enjoyment.
Fishing
Success Lake is a great place to bring your fishing skills to bear as the lake is stocked with rainbow trout by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife during spring and winter months. Moreover, anglers are not restricted to rainbow trout fishing in this park, as there are good opportunities to also catch largemouth bass, crappie, striped bass, bluegill and redear. Success Lake is particularly popular as an excellent site for catfish fishing, especially the south fork near the bridge in the park. Visit the large, shallow water coves to find many of these fishes.
