Transportation

Driving

Marriott-Slaterville is a short 40-mile trip south down I-15 from Salt Lake City. Small towns and unincorporated communities break up the landscape along the way, with the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest and Ashley National Forest proving to be attractive backdrops on your journey.

Spring weather conditions are relatively mild for travel in Utah, so you are unlikely to face any challenges along the way. However, for peace of mind when on a tight schedule, a traffic app offered by UDOT can be a welcome phone addition.

When you arrive in Marriott-Slaterville, which is a merged city of the Marriott and Slaterville unincorporated communities, you will find the faire in the heart of the city on North Pioneer Road.

Parking areas

There are plenty of grass and dirt parking areas at the site of the Utah Renaissance Festival and Fantasy Faire. Most RV-goers, even those in Airstreams, Sprinters, and similar, shouldn’t have too many problems parking their big rig for the day’s entertainment. However, if you find that quarters are cramped, you may see the value in finding off or on-street parking in the city center and making your way down to the site on foot.

Public Transportation

There are limited, or no, public transportation options in Marriott-Slaterville. The best way to get around the city will be with your motorhome or tow vehicle. Fortunately, there is no shortage of places to park within the city limits and even in surrounding cities and towns, such as Harrisville and Farr West.

Where to stay

Onsite

The Utah Renaissance Festival and Fantasy Faire provide entertainment over three weekends in May, but the entire site is set up for daily parking and activities. While you will not be able to camp on site overnight, there are plenty of places that are accessible with an RV nearby. Consider booking your accommodation in advance before you hit the road.

Nearby

From Farr West down to South Ogden, RV campgrounds are plentiful. Some are within a few short miles of the Utah Renaissance Festival and Fantasy Faire, or around 15 miles out, such as the Brigham City / Perry South KOA Journey. Those who like to camp off-the-grid in Utah can find a few primitive RV camping spots dotted around the outskirts of Ogden toward Huntsville. The journey into Marriott-Slaterville may take a little longer, but you’ll get the enjoyable experience of nature on your doorstep.

Getting around

When you park your motorhome at the Utah Renaissance Festival and Fantasy Faire, you’ll be blown away by the site’s magnitude. Even though it’s only a small event area, it’s packed to the brim with displays, activities, stalls, vendors, and performers. Given the hive of activity, the safest and best way to navigate the grounds is on foot. Scooters, bikes, and similar are best left in your RV for exploring the city limits later.

What to pack

Clothing

Spring weather in Marriott-Slaterville and across Utah can be quite surprising. The sun loves to break through the overcast skies regularly, which creates the perfect opportunity to get out and about in nature. While attending the faire, you may like to don your best Renaissance-era garments to fit in. Once night falls, though, you’ll need a few warmer layers for comfort back in your RV.

Gear

You’ll want to fit right in when you attend the Utah Renaissance Festival and Fantasy Faire. Bring cash for your entry fee and vendor offerings, and accessories that make your outfit stand out from the crowd. While you will need camping and cooking equipment for a comfortable stay in the city, you can leave this in your motorhome before you enter the faire.

Health & Safety

It can be hard to remember what to take on any road trip, but there are a few essentials that you shouldn’t leave the house without! Sunscreen and lip balm can protect you from that watery spring sun, and a first aid kit is always helpful for insect bites and cuts. Plenty of drinking water, your toiletries, and any medication you require is also worth carrying.

Where to eat

Cooking

Going on an RV adventure in Utah offers the opportunity to bust out the propane grill and cook in a unique and exciting fashion. What will you try first? Will you create a hearty stew or chili? What about traditional damper over a roaring campfire? Always check with your host before you light.

If you’re short on supplies or are yet to hit the grocery store, nearby Ogden offers a myriad of different options to ensure you have everything to cook up a storm.

Restaurants

Marriott-Slaterville doesn’t offer much in the way of eateries, but a four-mile drive to Ogden can see you faced with many different options. Mexican cuisine, buffets, grills, burgers, and much more are all on offer when you feel like taking a break from the faire. Treat yourself to something new in some of Utah’s local eating establishments.

Vendors

A new modern era of foodservice has well and truly arrived, but what if you want to try food from yesteryear? The Utah Renaissance Festival and Fantasy Faire offer that very experience. All manner of food vendors line the site, ready to provide you with a taste of divine ingredients and cuisines from hundreds of years ago. Make sure you bring cash, for not all vendors will accept debit cards or credit cards.

Safety

Security

Whether you visit the Utah Renaissance Festival and Fantasy Faire by car or motorhome, it’s worth leaving as many of your possessions as possible locked securely inside your vehicle. The less you bring with you, the faster you can get through any screening processes that might be in place.
If you have any questions relating to security, approach any official throughout the weekend. Otherwise, there is a police station within five miles in Ogden for any other concerns you may have.

Weather

Temperatures in Spring in Utah, and around Marriott-Slaterville, average between 40 degrees-Fahrenheit and 66 degrees. The sun adds some heat to the days, but nighttime temperatures can plummet when you least expect it. Always travel with extra blankets on board, and ensure your heating unit is in working order. As with many states in spring, rainfall is also expected, so consider the need for wet weather gear.

Medical

If you carry a first-aid kit in your RV, you are going to be prepared for most minor injuries. You can even stock up on extra supplies at a pharmacy within seven miles of the faire site. However, if you’ve come down with an illness or have suffered a medical event, you can make your way to the nearest hospital in Ogden under ten miles away. In an emergency, always dial 911.
