Half Moon Campground

When you want to camp in the woods or right on the water’s edge in central Vermont, the quiet and forested campground in Half Moon Pond State Park is worth considering. Within the much larger Bomoseen State Park, Half Moon Campground is one of the two public campgrounds within the park.

Lying on the densely wooded shores of the shallow Half Moon Pond, the motorhome camping sites provide Hubbardton campers with access to flush toilets, hot and cold running water, and coin-operated showers, including an RV dump station. Bring your pets; they are allowed throughout the park.

A playground is open to children. Campground activities like nature crafts and games and campfire programs offer additional entertainment. Night hikes and amphibian explorations also make staying here more exciting, whatever your age. Those who want to stay active may want to play volleyball and horseshoes or hit the park trails for a modest or even a full day’s hike. Keep an eye out for white-tailed deer or the occasional moose that are sometimes sighted on the trails.

Waterfront camping near Hubbardton certainly has its benefits, especially if you’re angling to land bass, perch, and northern pike, which Half Moon Pond has plenty of. Spend more time on the water by renting a rowboat, kayak or canoe, and even a pedal boat from the park office. You can also purchase firewood and ice on site. A couple of small sandy beaches beckon swimmers and sun loungers to their shores.
