RV rental Avignon, PAC: Motorhome rentals, camper van rentals and more

Once you book an RV in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur and you're ready to explore Avignon, you'll need to find a caravan park or campground where you can park your rig during your stay. One option worth a look is Camping du Pont d'Avignon. Situated on the banks of the Rhône River, this 18-acre park boasts 300 campsites in forested surrounds. There's also a 35-space secured campervan parking area available, while a pool, tennis courts, and several other recreational facilities are provided as well. Another popular option you might like to consider is Camping Bagatelle Le Pavillon Bleu. Located on Barthelasse Island, this green park offers plenty of peace and quiet. Over 100 sites can accommodate campervans, while two restaurants and a grocery store are also provided. There are several other campgrounds to choose from in the area around Avignon, so make sure to research a few options before deciding on the best place to stay.

You'll find plenty of historic sites worth visiting in this ancient city, but none are better than the Palais des Papes. This Palace of the Popes was built in the 14th century and is Europe's largest Gothic palace and medieval fortress. It also features in the top ten of France's most visited monuments — an impressive feat — and has 25 rooms open to the public. The pope's private apartments are particularly fascinating, making this a must-visit attraction for any tourist in Avignon. Next, steer your rental campervan from Avignon to Pont d’Avignon, located to the west of town. This iconic bridge spans half of the river, with just four of its 22 arches still remaining. Floods on the Rhône River continually caused damage to the bridge, and it was abandoned in the 17th century, but the remaining four arches have been in place since the 14th century. Along with the Palais des Papes and the city's cathedral, they form a UNESCO World Heritage site. Finally, if you're craving some culture, be sure to time your visit to Avignon to coincide with the annual Festival d'Avignon. Held each July in the Palais des Papes courtyard and at several other locations across the city, this hugely popular festival was first celebrated back in 1947. A real party atmosphere descends on Avignon as tens of thousands of visitors flock to theater, dance, music, and visual arts performances at some of the city's most iconic venues and sites, so make sure to check it out if you get the chance. When you rent a motorhome near Avignon, you'll soon fall in love with this charming, historic city. And with several other beautiful destinations nearby, such as Montpellier and Aix-en-Provence, you'll find plenty to explore if you're keen to extend your travel itinerary. So no matter which way you look at it, there are plenty of good reasons to book a rental motorhome in Avignon and hit the road.
