Sebastian Inlet Campground

Every good vacation should combine outdoor opportunities, creature comforts, and a chance to see and experience something new. If this is what you're looking for in the state of Florida, begin your vacation by booking a stay at Sebastian Inlet Campground in the breathtaking Sebastian Inlet State Park. This semi-cultivated RV park has restrooms, a dump station, and is very close to the inlet and the beach. When you book your site, you'll have access to fire rings with a grill, picnic tables, and water and electrical hookups; you can make your reservation several months in advance. The Melbourne Beach campground is pet-friendly to dogs on leashes, but dogs aren't allowed on the beach; the campground also has some sites that are designated for tent camping.

Near the campground, Indian River Lagoon offers a perfectly calm environment for kayaking and canoeing along the mangrove-fringed shoreline, or you can head out into the ocean and paddle to the nearby islands. Rentals are available from a local outdoor store. There are several jetties that allow you access to offshore fishing and boat launches from which you can head even farther out. Anglers can fish from the docks, the shoreline, the inlet, and a nearby river (licenses are required for all forms of fishing). While camping at Sebastian Inlet State Park, you can hike, mountain bike, and picnic or relax while your kids take advantage of the playground. Snorkeling and scuba diving are allowed provided you stay close to the dive flags (so boats will be aware of your presence), and you can enjoy an unfettered view of the stars once the sun has set (the area's remoteness means you won't have light from the cities interrupting your view).
