There are over 30 miles of multi-use trails in the surrounding area, all of which are contained within Village Creek State Park. These trails are intended for hikers, bikers, and equestrians alike, and all of them are clearly marked on trail maps that can be found at the campgrounds and at ranger stations.
Camping at Lake Austell
When you rent a camper near Lake Austell, some of the closest camping options are those found at Village Creek State Park. State park RV camping here will put you within walking distance of many of the natural attractions in the area. The park campground has over 95 campsites split between Premium A, Standard A, and Standard B sites. A lot of these campsites are located near Lake Dunn and have electricity and water hookups.
Exploring the Area
Forrest City, which is to the south of Lake Austell, is home to the St. Francis County Museum. This museum is filled with historical artifacts and exhibits that showcase the local history of the area. There is onsite staff who can answer your questions and give you tips and local information on some of the best restaurants and sites to see while visiting the town. Forrest City isn’t huge, but it still has a decent selection of BBQ, Southern, American, Mexican, and Italian restaurants.
