The Great Outdoors

Colorado is one of America’s best RV camping destinations, thanks to the ethereal beauty of its mountain ranges. You can see these snowcapped peaks from Denver, but when you rent an RV near Snowy Peaks RV Park and Rental, you’ll find yourself surrounded by these tremendous giants. Two of the region’s closest state parks are Spinney Mountain State Park and Eleven Mile State Park, each found quite close to one another.Spinney Mountain State Park takes its name from the small mountain next to the lake. You can hike to the top and enjoy fabulous views of the mountain valley and lake below, or make the most of the reservoir inside. The human-made lake is stocked with pike, trout, and other freshwater fish that make for tasty suppers cooked over campfires.Eleven Mile State Park has a lake nearly twice the size of the Spinney Mountain Reservoir, with dozens of small islands in the middle. Pristine swimming areas, lush beaches, and wide-open waters for boating are what you can expect while visiting this gorgeous Rocky Mountain nature park. Camping is allowed at both Spinney Mountain State Park and Eleven Mile State Park.Another great reason to camp in Buena Vista is the high number of national forests blanketing the Rocky Mountains. You can take a trip to the Pike and San Isabel National Forests, but Gunnison National Forest is easiest to reach from the campsites at Snowy Peaks RV Park. Alpine hikes, bike rides, and treks are an absolute pleasure in this million-acre paradise, with hundreds of miles of trails and pathways to explore.Great Sand Dunes National Park features impressive scenery, with surreal sand dunes that, coupled with the snow-capped mountain backdrop, make for quite the view. You can try hiking up the towering sand dunes or go sandboarding down from the top. There is a visitor center explaining the naturally occurring sand dune formations too.

City Sightseeing

Colorado Springs and Denver are both fantastic day-trip destinations while you're camping at Snowy Peaks RV Park and Rentals, but the small mountain town of Buena Vista also has a lot to offer. A quick ride into town yields plenty of possibilities, like the Buena Vista Boulder Garden featuring unique rocks and geological formations that are perfect for bouldering or rock climbing. The Buena Vista Heritage Museum is one of its most popular attractions in the city. It highlights the legacy of Buena Vista and other mountain towns like it. The museum also maintains certain buildings in town, like the old courthouse, the train depot, and other historic sites. You can see old photographs showing the founding of Buena Vista, as well as natural history displays, antiques, weapons, costumes, and model train sets at this eclectic museum. If you head to Buena Vista during the wintertime, you can enjoy a different set of attractions, like the legendary ski resorts of Colorado. Places like Monarch Mountain and Aspen Snowmass Ski Resort represent just a tiny fraction of the state’s impressive alpine mountain resorts, found all around the Rocky Mountains. You can rent gear, stay the night, spend all day on the slopes, and warm up by the fire at the lodge while visiting these exciting mountain resorts. There are also lots of shopping areas and fine dining establishments at the ski resorts, so don’t skip out on these exciting areas while touring the region with a Buena Vista motorhome rental in the winter months.

Questions about RVs?

Q.

What type of RV should I choose?

A.

Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.

You’ll also want to consider amenities. For example, if you’re planning to cook on the road, you’ll want a kitchenette. If your campground doesn’t have public restrooms, you’ll want to search RVs with bathrooms. Check out full descriptions of our models to help you decide here.

Q.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

A.

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

Q.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
