With adventure at every turn, Vannawt is your ticket to the great outdoors, for you and your whole gang! Perfect for a family of 4, our Winnebago Solis comes complete with 2 queen-sized beds (one in the pop-top), linens, a full kitchen, ample fridge space, and bathroom with shower and cassette toilet. There's heating for the colder months and an added AC for the coach, big enough to keep you cool on those hot summer nights. You'll never miss home, with all the comforts of home with you. Vannawt comes stocked with a toaster oven, Keurig coffee maker, a full set of pots and pans, dishes, and cutlery for 4, all the knives a chef could want, and plenty of other kitchen tools. In addition to the two-burner stove installed, there's an additional portable burner for those bigger meals. The pivoting table expands to cover the width of the van, for when you want to spread out. Need to spread out more? No problem! We've even thrown in a huge, screened tent/room, for when you have time to set up a bigger campsite. No time to set it up, no worries - we've got a push-button awning that provides shade outside the passenger-side slider, plus an outdoor rug, creating that perfect patio to relax in.This was our family’s home for those first two pandemic summers, so we’ve made it feel like our home. If you like the idea of camping but are loathe to leave all your creature comforts, Vannawt has every vowel to make your trip consonant fun! ADDITIONAL1. PETS WELCOME! However we do require all pet campers to sign up for the Interior Damage Protection option for the insurance. Accidents happen, and we can totally relate! This way we are both protected. Also, an additional $150 Extra-Messy Pet fee may be assessed, if you neglect to clean up after them.
2. NO FESTIVALS/NO BURNING MAN. We love festivals! But it's just too much dust to clean for the next campers and Playa dust severely damages camper systems (air filters, window and door seals, etc), no matter what you do to protect them.
3. NO SMOKING inside van or tent. Besides being really unsafe, with things like propane around, it really stinks the van up and ruins it for everyone after. So please, keep your smoking to the outdoors and in safe areas, and avoid loosing a big chunk of your security deposit.
4. TOILET/GREY TANK: Please be courteous and help us get VANNAWT ready for her next adventure. Empty the grey water tank, and empty and clean/recharge the cassette toilet tank at the proper facilities before you return. Dump facilities are usually found at any Recreation.gov campsite and private RV park. You can also find dump stations using the “RV Dumps” app. If you take 10 minutes as you're pulling out of the campground, it makes a world of difference for the cleanliness of us all, and avoids a $100 add-on fee at the end of your rental, thanks! :)
5. FUEL AND PROPANE: Please use only premium gas and return the van with a full tank of gas, just as it went out. If you can’t make the stop, no problem! You can always include our Gas Fill-up add-on in your contract, for an additional $225. Same goes for propane - if you can't return filled, we can take care of that for you, with our Propane Fill-up add-on, for $75.
RecommendationsWe've put a few miles behind us in VANNAWT, so if you're ever in need of some recommended trips, let us know! One of our favorite spots is Joshua Tree State Park, a short drive from LA but a world away. Check out Indian Cove Campground or Black Rock Canyon Campground. Amazing views out of every side of the van and loads of incredible hikes right out your side door! Have more time? We also love heading over to Utah and Colorado, where there's literally no shortage of incredible spots. Hit us up for more ideas!Other things to noteVANNAWT Rules of the Road:- We love your furry friends as much as you do! Our first trip around the country, we took our pup with us, there's nothing like it. Just be careful of the heat and know it is NEVER OK to leave them in the van unattended, even if you run the AC and especially in the heat. Dogs are most welcome, but cats are usually difficult, because they're hard to take with you. And, no one likes the smell of cat pee in their hotel room, right? Also, know we will need to clean the van for the next renters after your pet stays with us, so please be sensitive and careful not to let them make a mess. Our Extra Messy Pets fee is an extra $150, charged at the end, if extra cleaning is required. We also require any pet owners to take out the Interior Damage Protection option for the insurance. This protects us both :)- As far as being off-road or at tail-gating grounds where you might get stuck, just know, despite Roadside Assistance being included with insurance, you will be responsible for towing and any damage caused by your choice of roads or towing companies. Really, just don't put you or VANNAWT in a place where there's even the possibility of this happening, please! Choose your route and plan wisely! Even though it's listed in your contract, you'll also be be responsible for any tickets or tolls, even if the charges come in after your security deposit has already been released.- To this point, we recommend any of the apps that are great for giving road conditions, like "onX Offroad", "RoadTrippers", "Campendium", and of course "Recreation.gov". If you aren't members of "Harvest Hosts", they're also a great source for off-the-beaten path overnight options. Besides, who doesn't like a campsite with wine-tasting and a view of a vineyard?!- Avoid our $100 Extra-Messy Cleaning Fee and bring the van back with the grey tank emptied, and all the garbage/sand/dirt/pet hair out.- Please don't climb on the roof! Damage to the fiberglass and solar panel would make the rest of your trip and the loss of your security deposit a real drag.- Please do not tow anything behind the van, even though there is a hitch. The hitch is for our bike rack only.- We send VANNAWT out with a full tank of gas. Please use Premium gas only and bring her back full to avoid a $225 refueling charge. Same goes for the propane, which has a refill fee of $75.- By all means, HAVE THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE! Be open to new experiences, use the hammock, sing along to the radio with the windows open, sing really loud! And, don't forget to share some of your unforgettable memories in our guest book, that we may all be inspired to follow in your footsteps.

Meet your host, Peter

Member since 2023

We set out in the summer of 2020, after months of lock-down, to find a new adventure for our family. And, adventure we found! After hunting for weeks, we discovered our Winnebago Solis with room enough for all of us, and hit the road. We've spent the last three years taking long trips and short trips and nothing compares to the feeling of being out there. We love our jobs in TV and our life here in LA, but whenever we can we love to uncover new places to explore in our beloved VANNAWT. Here's hoping you can find some adventures of your own!

January 20245

I cannot say enough about my experience with Peter and the Vannawt!! Communication was incredible and I left picking up the van knowing everything I needed to and more! Even though I was on a solo trip for 5 days, and didn’t have a clear “agenda”, I was able to use the resources Peter provided and instantly felt comfortable and at ease.

VANNA is loaded with everything you need to travel; dishes, kitchen utensils, sheets, towels, beach chairs, water filter, etc. Peter was very organized and detailed about how everything works, which was super helpful. In addition, there’s a detailed booklet in the van in case you forget stuff. My sister, and I traveled like Thelma and Louise, and stopped wherever we wanted, no destination in mind. We ended up driving up the coast on Hwy 1 from LA to Fort Bragg and back down through the wine country. No problems with the van at all, we felt safe and secure, even in rainy weather. Thank you Peter and Lisa for giving us an opportunity to use your van.

We took a trip to Colorado. This is my first experience driving RV but Peter was very helpful before and during the trip. When I forgot how to to turn on a heater, I just called him and he helped me to set it over the phone. Overall the ride was quite comfortable for a long drive!

Have a question?Get answers directly from the host

Q.What flexibility is available for picking up and dropping off the RV?
A.
Contact us as soon as you can so we can coordinate arrangements. We are pretty flexible with enough notice!

Q.Are there any special tricks and tips that would help with operating the RV easily?
A.
We will walk you through all the basics and provide you with the complete owners manuel, in case you run into problems out on the road. And of course, we'll always be available to respond to your questions should you get stuck and need to reach out.

Q.How do the electric, water and sewage hook up work while setting up at the campground?
A.
We've provided a through guide to help navigate all the systems and will make sure you are comfortable with their operation before you leave on your trip. The information and links provided there will make using VANNAWT a breeze.

Q.What type of car/truck do you need to tow this trailer? What are the hitch requirements?
A.
Unfortunately, we do not allow any towing with VANNAWT. The hitch is for our bike rack only.
