Discover Carrollton rentals for memorable road trips

Founded in 1829, the original name for Carrollton, GA, was intended to be “Troupville” in honor of a former governor, George Troup. However, this proved to be unpopular with the residents. In the end, the town council and residents settled on Carrollton in a nod to Charles Carroll, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. The inhabitants, notorious for stubbornness, resisted modern amenities for as long as they could. They didn’t get their first paved road until 1918.

Carrollton has been featured in several books and movies, like both the book and movie versions of Gone with the Wind, and The Way Home with actor Dean Cain. It briefly became a household name when a plane flown by Atlantic Southeast Airlines crashed near Carrollton in 1995.

At the halfway point between Talladega National Forest and Atlanta, roughly 45 miles to the west and east, respectively, Carrollton is the perfect place to search for an RV rental.

The Great Outdoors

There are hundreds of wilderness parks dotting the Georgia state, and a travel trailer rental makes it easy to explore them all. The Chattahoochee Bend State Park is a modest 2,900-acre park with several redeeming features. The Chattahoochee River serpentines around the perimeter of the park, providing ample kayaking and fishing opportunities. The Wildlife Resource Division of Georgia State runs a loaner program, lending out rods, reels, and tackle. Anglers can expect to catch bass, trout, and catfish. There are several miles of hiking trails, one of which leads to a raised observation platform. A camper rental will be welcome here. Not only is the parking ample sized, the campground also has hookups and running water. Across the Georgia-Alabama state border, Talladega National Forest sprawls some 392,000 acres. This park is home to a few species of threatened and endangered animals, including the red-cockaded woodpecker and gopher tortoise. Recreational activities are endless: navigate hundreds of miles of trails, swim, boat, bike, horseback ride, hunt, and bike. Scenic meadows, sun-dappled groves, rounded mountains, wide valleys, and low-but-picturesque waterfalls all make for fantastic photo opportunities for both budding and experienced photographers alike. The Pinhoti Trail, which runs for nearly 200 miles and connects to the Appalachian Trail, is considered a premier long-distance hiking trail.

RV Parks

When you rent an RV in Carrollton, don’t forget to figure out where you’ll park while you explore the area or grab some sleep. In rural Georgia, there are oodles of campgrounds and RV parks with varying degrees of service and amenities. Seeking to become one with nature and immediate access to the outdoors? Several state and county parks have campgrounds, and some have hookups. The Little Tallapoosa Park has a few RV lots with water, sewer, and electric hookups. Each site has a fire ring, also, which is nice for roasting marshmallows on a balmy evening. The restroom facility has showers, as well. For a taste of luxury and family-friendly fun, the Jellystone in Bremen may tick off several boxes. The lots form an oval ring, and in the center, there are oodles of fun activities. Amenities include an outdoor theater, jump pads, a dog run, a retro arcade, and even train rides.

Exploring the City

As rural as Carrollton is, there’s plenty of places to see and fun to be had in a luxury RV rental. Quilts are old fashioned and dated? Not necessarily. The Southeastern Quilt & Textile Museum sheds light on just how creative and modern quilts can be. The quilts hung on walls like art pieces, gives visitors a newfound appreciate into the time and labor that goes into creating these works of art. The use of colors and abstract shapes harken to the likes of Victor Vasarely and Piet Mondrian. Walk on the wild side at the Wild Animal Safari, a fun-packed drive-thru animal park in Pine Mountain. Many wild animals will saunter right up to the vehicles in their never-ending quest for snacks. Get up close and personal with a camel, watusi, zebra, and American bison. Herds of elks, giraffes, and water buffaloes run free, roaming the 500-acre property. Because there is a minor risk of damage to personal vehicles, vans are available for rental. Alternatively join the bus tour, on which an expert animal guide will share a wealth of information about the resident animals. For thrills and goosebumps, the Six Flags over Georgia is just a few minutes away, in Austell. It boasts record-breaking roller coasters, water slides, and gentler, tamer options for young toddlers or the easily-nauseated adventurers. Loony Tunes Dance Party never fails to get toes a-tapping. The food court dishes up a wide array of meals from fast food to veggie wraps to Mexican. Several food stands also serve beer for the adults to enjoy. At the end of a long day of adventuring and sightseeing, stop at a local convenience store and grab tarragon-flavored lemonade, which is Georgia’s signature drink, kick up your heels outside a Carrollton RV rental and watch as the sun dips down below the horizon.

I was very grateful for the option to have this trailer delivered. Tim was able to place the RV perfectly at the bottom of a steep gravel driveway. This was my first time using a travel trailer so I appreciate that he was very thorough and made sure everything was working perfectly before he left. The trailer was clean and in great condition and the AC was amazing!
