Flowery Branch is a city in Hall County, Georgia, located next to Lake Lanier. The city's original name was Anaguluskee, meaning “flowers on the branch” (it was a Cherokee word); long-term residents remember it had a similar nickname, Nattagasska (meaning “blossom creek”). It also has a handful of celebrities, such as MLB pitchers Brad Keller (Kansas City Royals) and retired Hall of Famer Phil Niekro (Atlanta Braves), NFL quarterback Connor Shaw and sports car driver Jerry O'Connell. Andrew Jackson is believed to have passed through Flowery Branch in 1818 while heading to the First Seminole War.
