The Great Outdoors

Rent a camper near Manapogo Park Campground and begin the adventure with a visit to Coldwater Lake State Park; it’s only a hop across the state border in Branch County, Michigan. Although small, this scenic state park offers access to a 1,600-acre lake and over a mile of undeveloped shoreline. It’s a fantastic place to take the family for canoeing or kayaking as well as other boating activities. The park also boasts over 120 acres of wetlands, which are thriving with native plant species and wildlife.Pokagon State Park is also just 15 minutes' drive away when you’re camping at Manapogo Park Campground. As one of Indiana’s first state parks, Pokagon is scattered with original Civilian Conservation Corps log cabins and steeped in Native American history. It’s also dubbed Indiana’s "winter wonderland." It’s certainly a picturesque place to take the kids sledding, go cross-country skiing, or ride the downhill toboggan. The park has snow sports equipment to rent on-site. During the warmer seasons, visitors can take a dip in the natural lakes, which were formed by glaciers. There are also several hiking trails so you can discover the Pokagon State Park’s wetlands, woodlands, and meadows on foot. You can also take a scenic drive to Harrison Lake State Park in the neighboring state of Ohio. It’s located in Fayette, among agricultural plains, rolling hillsides, and lush woodlands. The park is home to many species of birds as well as land wildlife, which you can spot from one of the park’s designated hiking trails. It’s also set up for runners with a three-and-a-half-mile lakeside trail. While the hills are buried in snow, Harrison Lake State Park makes an idyllic setting for sledding and cross-country skiing. You can even try iceboating on Harrison Lake or go swimming, canoeing, and boating during the summer season.

Explore the Area

Both structures date back to the 1800s and are now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. One of the highlights for kids and film lovers is the Brokaw Movie House in downtown Angola. This famous movie theater has been opened in 1931, showing the Smiling Lieutenant, and has been delighting viewers with family favorites ever since. Updated in the 1990s, Brokaw Movie House now has two theaters plus your favorite movie snacks and drinks available in the foyer. While you’re RV camping in Steuben County, you can also take advantage of the locally-produced foods and beverages. The region boasts vineyards and wineries where you can take a tour and sample some of the finished products. Questions about RVs?

Q.

What type of RV should I choose?

A.

Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.

You’ll also want to consider amenities. For example, if you’re planning to cook on the road, you’ll want a kitchenette. If your campground doesn’t have public restrooms, you’ll want to search RVs with bathrooms. Check out full descriptions of our models to help you decide here.

Q.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

A.

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

Q.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
