The Great Outdoors

The campsites at Sauder Village Campground are just ten minutes’ drive from the Goll Woods State Nature Preserve, which has been designated as a National Natural Landmark due to its significant oak-hickory forest. It’s named after the Goll family who protected these gigantic trees against timber loggers before the 321-acre nature preserve was created in 1969. Witness its old-growth trees, some of which are 200-400 years old and measure four feet in diameter, then explore the swamp forest and wildflower fields that are stunning during the spring. Pay a visit to the Goll Homestead, which has now been listed on the National Register of Historic Places, then make a detour to the Lockport Covered Bridge that spans the Tiffin River. If you’re an angler, continue driving north to the Harrison Lake State Park, which centers around a 95-acre water body that was created following the damming of Mill Creek in 1939. It’s a popular destination for luring bluegill, channel catfish, and largemouth bass, as well as white crappie and bullhead. In addition to fishing, Harrison Lake State Park features a 3.5-mile hiking trail where you can stretch your legs and a long swimming beach that gets busy during the summer months.A 30-minute drive east of your campsite at Sauder Village Campground is the Maumee State Forest, which is well-known amongst local horseback riders and ATVers. It lies adjacent to the Oak Openings Preserve Metropark, home to the interactive Buehner Center and over 50 miles of multi-use trails. Stretch your legs while exploring the preserve’s oak savannah landscape, wetlands, and vegetated sand dunes, which support several rare plant and animal species and have been identified by The Nature Conservancy as one of the “Last Great Places on Earth.”

Questions about RVs?

Q.

What type of RV should I choose?

A.

Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.

You’ll also want to consider amenities. For example, if you’re planning to cook on the road, you’ll want a kitchenette. If your campground doesn’t have public restrooms, you’ll want to search RVs with bathrooms. Check out full descriptions of our models to help you decide here.

Q.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

A.

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

Q.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
