The Great Outdoors

Each part of The Great Lake State has an assortment of stunning camping areas, recreation facilities, and parks to entice nature lovers, but the Upper Peninsula is perhaps the best place to go camping in Michigan. Essentially a giant forest, the Upper Peninsula has no shortage of places to bring your RV rental while visiting the region. When you book an RV in Schoolcraft County, you can drive up to the shores of Lake Superior to find Muskallonge Lake State Park. The park occupies a sliver of land between Lake Superior and Muskallonge Lake, leaving it surrounded by dazzling imagery and serene sights. Once a Coast Guard station, Muskallonge Lake State Park now has nature trails, boat launches, playgrounds, and a large campground.Down near the shores of Lake Michigan, Indian Lake State Park has boat launches, fishing docks, beautiful views, limestone shelters, and a campground too. This serene piece of land by Indian Lake has space for swimming, fishing, boating, kayaking, picnicking, and camping out, among other things. Not far from Indian Lake, Hiawatha National Forest is one of the largest wilderness areas in the northern United States. Nearly 900,000 acres of evergreen forest comprise this massive entity, owned and maintained by the federal government. There are six wilderness areas, 18 camping areas, several lighthouses, frontage on two Great Lakes, and hundreds of miles of nature trails in this unbelievably beautiful area.If you bring your Germfask campervan rental to Houghton, you can park it there and take a boat ride to Isle Royale National Park, one of the most remote national parks in the country. Escape civilization and live amongst the towering pine trees on this divine island in the middle of Lake Superior. Winding hiking trails, rocky coasts, and rustic camping areas are provided for those looking for an escape from everyday life for a few days and nights.

City Attractions

Manistique is the only incorporated city in Schoolcraft County and the easiest place to get to when you're looking for nearby attractions. The small town on Lake Michigan has wineries, restaurants, old homes, golf courses, parks, and other features to entice tourists. Schoolcraft County Historical Park is a great museum encompassing several historic buildings, like the prominent water tower standing tall, a 200-foot-tall brick building with an interesting architectural style. The Manistique Boardwalk and Riverwalk allows visitors to delight in magnificent sunsets, sunrises, and lakefront views in general. The Manistique East Breakwater Lighthouse is a lovely place to see for lighthouse enthusiasts and photographers, and the two-mile boardwalk is an excellent place to stretch your legs and get some exercise.Newberry is another place to visit when you rent a travel trailer near Northland Outfitters Campground, even closer to the RV park than Manistique. Both the Luce County Historical Museum and the Tahquamenon Logging Museum help inform and teach people about the region’s complicated and fascinating past. See old buildings, jail cells, sheriff buildings, logging equipment, antique furniture, and much more when you spend a day exploring this small and vibrant community.

Questions about RVs?

Q.

What type of RV should I choose?

A.

Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.

You’ll also want to consider amenities. For example, if you’re planning to cook on the road, you’ll want a kitchenette. If your campground doesn’t have public restrooms, you’ll want to search RVs with bathrooms. Check out full descriptions of our models to help you decide here.

Q.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

A.

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

Q.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
