The Great Outdoors

Michigan is home to an abundance of special parks and recreation parks, many of which line either Lake Michigan and Lake Huron on their respective sides of the state. Just beyond your campsite, though, Orchard Beach State Park is just waiting to be explored. The park has a network of trails along the water, picnic areas, fishing spots, swimming beaches, and a large pavilion for weddings and other large events.Just north of Ludington, you can take a trip in your campervan rental to Ludington State Park, with over 5,000 acres containing a variety of different ecosystems from sand dunes to thick forest groves. The Big Sable Lighthouse is a fabulous historical structure on-site that guests may tour, and there are lots of beaches perfect for suntanning and swimming. Four different campgrounds, miles of hiking trails, canoeing areas, and a beachfront restaurant give you all you need while you visit. If you head in the opposite direction up north, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore stuns visitors with its impressive sand dunes, historic villages, and 35 miles of shoreline. Sunsets are a pleasure to see high atop the towering bluffs lining the shore, and camping beneath the stars at this natural paradise is a must. Several islands like South Manitou Island are located right off the coast, giving you plenty to explore. Manistee National Forest is not far from Orchard Park Campground, with half a million acres of outdoor paradise to get lost in. Hiking, biking, nature photography, camping: there is no limit to the fun you can have when you bring your RV rental to this sprawling forest in northern Michigan. If you happen to go in the wintertime, you can even do some cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, alpine skiing, or snowboarding as well.

City Attractions

Manistee isn’t a large city like Muskegon or Traverse City, but it has its fair share of interesting places to visit and see. The lovely downtown area has lively streets lined with buildings built over a century and a half ago. The Manistee Historical Museum provides tours of these elegant homes, giving informative insight to visitors. Inside the museum itself, you can learn about the timber industry that spurred the city’s growth, the first migrants to the area, the shipping industry of Lake Michigan, and much more. The Vogue Theatre is a refurbished Art Deco style cinema built nearly a century ago, run completely by volunteers with a passion for the old building and the movie industry. You can lounge in comfy seats with your family, eat some buttery popcorn, and catch an eclectic mix of new releases and classic films. The Manistee North Pier Head Lighthouse is as beautiful as it is iconic, built back in 1870. The structure has helped guide sailors on Lake Michigan to safety for over a century, and while you tour it, you can see some stunning views from the top. Whatever you decide to do with your time when you book an RV rental in Manistee County, you’re in for a treat.

Questions about RVs?

Q.

What type of RV should I choose?

A.

Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.

You’ll also want to consider amenities. For example, if you’re planning to cook on the road, you’ll want a kitchenette. If your campground doesn’t have public restrooms, you’ll want to search RVs with bathrooms. Check out full descriptions of our models to help you decide here.

Q.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

A.

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

Q.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
