Discover Traverse City

Get Away in Style

Starting with your new RV rental in Traverse City, travel south about 15 miles, to Interlochen State Park. Situated right between Green and Duck Lakes, Interlochen State Park is the perfect getaway for those who enjoy scenic fishing, miles of lakeshore beaches, and a rustic camping experience.

Many enjoy the close-knit environment of the campsites here and the family-friendly, well-maintained park. You can even take time to enjoy the Interlochen Center for the Arts, just adjacent to the park. Musicians come to this center to perform concerts all throughout the year, so you may catch a show during your stay!

If Interlochen doesn’t have you hooked, travel northwest to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The lakeshore is about 25 miles from the center of Traverse City and offers lush forest, magnificently clear inland lakes, towering bluffs, and unique wildlife. There’s a good lot to take in. Luckily, the high dunes help to provide spectacular views all the way across the lake’s entirety.

The rich history of this land is celebrated here, and ongoing research is readily conducted at the park to assist in conservation decisions. Rangers will gladly take you along guided tours to explore the park and embrace its beginnings. However, you can also spend the day on your own hiking unguided trails, going out for a bike ride, paddling down the river, or taking a stroll along the boardwalk.

When you don’t want to leave the lakeshore, you don’t have to! Take a couple of days to really enjoy it here. Many sites offer hookups for electric, and showers and modern restrooms are available. This is what your Traverse City camper rental was made for - like a home away from home.

Further North

To continue our northern shoreline travels, drive your motorhome rental from Traverse City to Charlevoix, Michigan, where Fisherman’s Island State Park can be your next night’s stay. The “island-feel” here is due in part to it having been one in the past. Lower water levels have transformed the state park to what it is today, lush with wildflowers and a perfect setting for immersing yourself in the outdoors.

Journey along the winding trails and take in the many species of trees and the wildlife they host. You won’t run out of things to spot! After spending the day out hiking, lounge in the evening hours along the beach, which is only minutes away from camping sites. Get some peace, quiet, and serenity. Just like much of what Michigan has offered, it’s no disappointment for outdoor adventure.

When you don’t want to stay in any of the park’s campgrounds, you can find several RV parks and resorts just outside of Fisherman’s Island where you can also keep your rental during your time in Michigan. Even along your way back to Traverse City, feel free to stop in at any of the other welcoming RV sites to find the perfect spot for your rental. Do your research first - with so many to choose from, you can afford to be a bit picky.

To Traverse City!

Back in Traverse City, you can also make your stay at the Traverse City State Park. There are over 200 sites available here and it’s located just three miles from downtown. It’s a super convenient spot to stay, with food, shops and markets only minutes away.

Play along miles of beach, eat some famed cherry pie, go out for a drive-in movie, and immerse yourself in the city splendor. You can wind down your day at any of the over 50 wineries in the area and dine in style with any of your favorites. Traverse City has it all! It’s a beautiful destination during all seasons.

With your Traverse City RV rental by owner, you can take in the town like you were meant to. No more rushing! Vacations are for relaxing, adventure, and learning something new about the world. Now that you’ve learned you can travel this way, road trips will never be the same. See what else Michigan has to offer with your next stay!
