Recommended RV Campgrounds and Attractions around Milwaukee, WI
The rugged beauty of the Kettle Moraine State Forest makes Waukesha County a haven for campers. Pull in with an RV for a restful camping trip with the comforts of home, load everything on your back and head to a secluded walk-in site, or bring horses for a frontier-style camp out, complete with tether post and riding trails. RV Accommodations include pull-thru sites, big rig access, 50 amp, electric, clean restrooms and showers. There are a variety of sites, most very secluded and private. One of the best areas is the outer loop close to Ottawa Lake. Though the lake is small, it has a clean, sandy beach and dogs are allowed to swim at one end of the lake. Several sites are actually on the lake. However, these sites are all on a steep embankment and none of them has electricity. The park's electric sites are currently a mix of 30A and 50A. Kettle Moraine State Forest has numerous hiking trails to enjoy.
Visit the River Bend Nature Center during your visit to Racine, Wisconsin. Rent a canoe or kayak and take yourself on an adventure on the Root River. Your lifejacket and paddle are included with the rental, so you really don't need any equipment of your own. Hike or walk the trails to get a sense of the grandeur of the woods, the river, and nature itself. The Nature Center frequently runs programs for kids, and offers pancake breakfasts on Sundays in March where they serve their very own maple syrup. Plenty of geocaches are hidden around the trail system, so bring your GPS and play along! This beautiful site has served as the backdrop for many weddings and photo shoots. Release your inner Robin Hood by taking an archery class, or sign up for a beginner wood carving course. Be sure to check their calendar for one of the special events offered throughout the year. The River Bend Nature Center will provide the setting for a wonderful day exploring the riverside.
Combine the best of Metro Milwaukee's tourist attractions and city amenities at this conveniently located RV park, which is one of the permanent venues at the Wisconsin State Fair Park. Various special festivals, exhibitions, and public markets are held throughout the year at this vibrant space, in addition to professional and amateur sporting events. These include the annual Harvest Fair, the 4-H Horse Expo, several Home and Remodeling Shows, Greek Fest, and the Ice Fishing and Winter Sports Exhibition. No matter what time of the year you visit, this park is almost always at the center of this active community. Whether it's quiet or bustling, the RV portion of the park is always open. There are 70 full-service RV hookups available, which includes electrical, water, and sewage. There are also a few sites available with electrical hookups only, and tents are only permitted during special event times. The RV park is also within an easy walking distance of the Milwaukee Zoo and the Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club.
Less than an hour?s drive west of Waukesha takes you past a scenic display of lakes, rivers, and granite rocks to the River Bend RV Resort. This exciting, bustling venue has plenty to keep everyone busy, and earns the title ?resort? with on-site recreational options that include a waterpark, fish ponds, a lodge, community center, a gift shop, and a bar and grill, just to name a few. There are events every weekend that follow a certain theme and include music, dancing, and other community activities. Boating enthusiasts can rent canoes here and explore the freshwater lakes and rivers of inland Wisconsin, and the site itself gives guests access to the Craw Fish River. The RV park has rates to accommodate visitors who want to stay for just a night or spend a whole season, and recommends that you book well in advance as this is a popular spot that fills up quickly.
A full holiday in a single destination may seem like a tall order, but that?s what can be expected from Happy Acres Kampground in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The park is suitable for those who plan on having a great RV camping trip, as it offers a lot of options for RV owners in terms of their camp sites, such as the electric output, and whether they require a grill and fire pit. Guests are welcome to have company over, and visitors will be charged a daily or overnight rate, depending on their needs. The park offers planned activities, mini-golf, horseshoes, volleyball, basketball, playgrounds, bingo, jumping pillow, large and small fishing ponds, swimming pool, tenting area, pedal boat rentals, wooded nature trails, and much more. The park is also located near major routes and other attractions if you happen to have energy left after all that. The park offers a beautiful natural setting around the pond, offering peace and relaxation.
