When you book an RV in Dodge County, you'll be near some unique outdoor areas. Horicon campers will have Horicon Marsh right on their doorsteps, which is the biggest freshwater cattail marsh in the United States. The marsh covers over 30,000 acres and contains over five miles of trails for hikers to explore which will take you through fields, wetlands and more. The swamp is also a popular destination for birdwatchers. Over 200,000 Canada geese migrate through the area in the spring and autumn, and over 300 species have been spotted within park boundaries. Other popular activities include kayaking, fishing, and hunting. There are lots of wildlife areas for RV campers to visit, and another nearby is Theresa Marsh Wildlife Area. This park consists of over 5,000 acres of swamps and reservoirs near the quaint settlement of Theresa. Boating and canoeing are popular at this park, but activities are not allowed during bird migrations. Birdwatching is also popular at this park due to its proximity to Horicon Marsh and many of the same species of bird frequenting this area. Other popular activities include trapping, hunting, and cross-country skiing during the winter. If you're looking to visit one of Wisconsin's beautiful state parks, consider Pike Lake State Park. This state park features the 500-acre Pike Lake surrounded by lush woodlands. The park also features Powder Hill, a large glacial mound which gives you panoramic views of the surrounding area. These features make Pike Lake State Park ideal for hiking with roughly nine different trails which take visitors past wildflowers and through forests. You can even bring your pup along for a stroll in the woods. Water sports are also popular here, and this park is perfect for pike and walleye fishing. There are also boat ramps to make boating simple.

Exploring the City

Horicon campers will have access to two of Wisconsin's best-known cities. Milwaukee is about an hour's drive away and offers lots of fun excursions, including the Milwaukee Art Museum. This art gallery contains a staggering 30,000 pieces of art, ranging from painting to sculptures to textiles. There are local and international artists on display, including one of the most significant collections of artwork by Wisconsin's own Georgia O'Keeffe. Some other highlights include paintings by Claude Monet, Andy Warhol, and Pablo Picasso. If you're big on motorcycles, then you should definitely plan a visit to the Harley-Davidson Museum. This museum opened to celebrate over 100 years of Harley-Davidson motorcycles and consists of more than 100,000 square feet of chopper memorabilia. The museum starts with the history of these famous bikes, with early models, pictures and much more. There are hundreds of bikes on display, from prototypes to groundbreaking designs. As a result, this museum is sure to please any gearhead.Milwaukee also features a massive zoo, the Milwaukee County Zoo. This zoo contains over 3,000 mammals, reptiles, fish, and more in a beautiful wooded area. See some truly incredible animals, including hippos, red pandas, and vampire bats. There are hundreds of different species, and it might be a challenge to see them all in one day. You can also book animal encounters, some of which are unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, which include feeding tigers and caribou.

Questions about RVs?

Q.

What type of RV should I choose?

A.

Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.

You’ll also want to consider amenities. For example, if you’re planning to cook on the road, you’ll want a kitchenette. If your campground doesn’t have public restrooms, you’ll want to search RVs with bathrooms. Check out full descriptions of our models to help you decide here.

Q.

Do the RVs have bathrooms?

A.

Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.

Q.

How does check-in work?

A.

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
