The city of Oshkosh, Wisconsin inhabits a small stretch of land along the western shores of Lake Winnebago. The town is named for Chief Oshkosh of the Menominee Tribe. Oshkosh is lovingly referred to as the Sawdust City due to its history of being a lumber harvesting and processing industrial powerhouse for much of its existence., Oshkosh is nestled between two large lakes, Lake Butte des Morts and Lake Winnebago. The city derives much of its value for its picturesque waterfront areas, and even its motto says “On the Water.”

This city is one of the best places to rent an RV in the Midwest, with so many memorable ways to spend your time. The downtown is lively and vibrant, with lots of walkable streets featuring restaurants and retail shopping centers. Historic districts with old brick buildings, cheery parks, and divine summertime weather make it easy to book an RV in Oshkosh, and Interstate 41 ensures easy access to and from town. Geographically, Oshkosh is located around halfway between Green Bay and Milwaukee, both of which are quite easy to reach.

Farther east near the city of Sheboygan is Kohler-Andrae State Park, a brilliant area with lovely trails and beaches. The park sits on the confluence of the Yellow and Wisconsin Rivers and has spectacular beaches and swimming areas where you can go fishing.

Northern Wisconsin is home to an endless stream of parks, natural areas, recreation spots, and national forests, so you can take your pick of the litter when you feel like taking a road trip with the Oshkosh motorhome rental to the northern parts of the state. Over a million and a half acres of evergreen paradise can be found in the two forests, all of which are open for exploration, trekking, camping, and more. The forest has areas as beautiful as they are remote and only recommended for expert backcountry trekkers.
