The city of Oshkosh, Wisconsin inhabits a small stretch of land along the western shores of Lake Winnebago. The town is named for Chief Oshkosh of the Menominee Tribe. Oshkosh is lovingly referred to as the Sawdust City due to its history of being a lumber harvesting and processing industrial powerhouse for much of its existence., Oshkosh is nestled between two large lakes, Lake Butte des Morts and Lake Winnebago. The city derives much of its value for its picturesque waterfront areas, and even its motto says “On the Water.”

High Cliff State Park is a gorgeous sanctuary across Lake Winnebago, with stunning views over the water especially at sunset. You will find tons of trails weaving through the woods and alongside the lake, with observation towers high above atop the escarpments. You can hike, bike, go hunting, fishing, swimming, or boating on the vast lake when you decide to head to High Cliff State Park.
RV Parks
Much like the wind rolling off of Lake Winnebago, finding a place to camp near Oshkosh is a breeze. Hickory Oaks Campground is right in town and has dozens of private camping spots, rental cabins, along with fishing and swimming areas along the lake’s sandy beaches.
City Attractions
Oshkosh is perhaps the perfect size for a city, small enough to retain its charm and large enough to have a variety of attractions and points of interest. The streets of the downtown area are lined with historic buildings, along with fine dining establishments, boutiques, art galleries, farmers markets, and breweries. You can learn a thing or two in one of its many museums, like the EAA Aviation Museum. There are over 200 historic airplanes at this incredible institution, and you can even take rides on some of them with trained pilots. There are exhibits concerning WWI and WWII with regards to aviation, and children-friendly entertainment areas.

Tony was great! I messaged him before booking to see if he’d be able to accommodate a last minute booking (next day) that included drop up, set up, and pick up. Tony answered within the hour and said no problem! He was exactly on time, while we were running late to the campsite. By the time we got there everything was set up and ready to go! His listing is very accurate. The “extras” that he has on hand are extremely thoughtful would make things so easy for a first timer! Linens and blankets on beds were provided, plenty of storage, a/c was the best after a long day outside! Would recommend and rent again!
